Singulair the allergy med that blocks Leukotrines for Lyme? Hmm, there's a new one. I will say it helps my sniffels.

Um, Singulair maybe? (or verizon :-)

Why the heck would that affect LD???? Singulair is a leukotriene inhibitor which reduces mucus secretion and airway constriction in asthma (and allergies).

Maybe s/he is thinking Singulair will reduce overall inflammation? But the problem with that idea is that Singulair inhibits a certain type of leukotriene that mainly involve the lungs. They other type of leukotrienes tend to be involved in other types of inflammation (arthritis, colitis, etc) but are not targeted by Singulair.

Maybe this drug would be helpful if you have significant lung involvement that is inflammatory (vs neural) in nature....

Ask more about the doc's thinking on this one...and if they say "to reduce inflammation" then ask about the difference in the two kinds of leukotrienes that yield inflammation...

Inquiring minds want to know -- MORE.

My two cents (as an asthmatic w. Bb).

My urologist NP gave this to me because she said it would target the Leukotrines that sometimes iritated the bladder like an allergen. She mentioned mast cells too.

I stopped taking it as it wasnt helping any.
