I JUST posted the following on the thread on IGeneX, but thought I would start THIS thread also in case I miss knowledgeable people on the other thread.

Thanks for any help,
Jim
###

Folks:

I JUST turned 65 last week. AND NOW I can get ONE (1), complete physical, I THINK, IF I remember right, according to a phone call I had with the SS administration last week. I don't remember too well as I have had a neuro problem for just about a week now, that has symptoms of either/or Babesia and West Nile Disease. It just popped up last Tuesday, and has gotten worse.

So IF I can get ONE GOOD physical PAID FOR according to SS, then I want to make sure it is a REALLY good one. Not the slip-shod stuff I would probably get from my local DUCK.

We have MILLIONS of people here in Wisconsin and only ONE LLMD that is available currently, according to the checking I have done on the net. Pretty sad for the second highest state in the country with Lyme, wouldn't you agree?

I don't NEED an LLMD, just someone who WILL do extensive testing, IMO.

This NEW thing has me baffled. Could be herxing on the Coptis I started a little over a week ago too. I have had these symptoms in the distant past, but much milder, so just not sure.

Because of federal laws, I don't want drop the ball on this one.

AND suggestions?

Thanks,

Jim

Hey JimBoB --

I'd be inclined to think it is herx, or a flare of either neuro-lyme or babs...

I don't know the first thing about coptis, but I do know that folks can herx their heads off on herbs/alternative tx sometimes. I was originally doing samento along with my abx, and had to go off it because the herx was so bad!

What makes you think of West Nile? Could you get that test included as a part of your physical?

IF the cause of your problems would be the coptis, the most easy way to find out about that would be to stop taking the herb for a while and see what's happening.

Maybe the following links are helpful to check out, weather your current problems fit to possible adverse reactions or toxic effects of coptis:

http://www.pfaf.org/database/plants.php?Coptis+chinensis

quote:
Known Hazards: Although no specific mention of toxicity has been found for this species, it belongs to a family that contains many species that are mildly toxic and so it is wise to treat this plant with some caution.

Toxicity:

Not to use in cases of wind cold type of flu and deficient type of syndromes.

Normal dosage is relatively safe with few side effects and no adverse effects from long term use. Large dosage can be toxic.

Not to use in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

Clinical experiences and laboratory studies show that the toxic reactions include:

1 acute deprivation of oxygen of the brain due to cardiac function

2 shock due to allergenic reaction

3 rash

4 dizziness, tinnitus, nausea, vomiting, anxiety and fright, short of breath, joint pain

5 diarrhea, flatulence, rumbling noise in the intestines, frequent urination

6 decrease of heme and blood cells

7 report of sudden stoppage of circulation and breathing due to venous feeding of injectiones of huang lian

Jim,
You started the Coptis, and a new symptom began.

Hmmmm....very suspicious.

You're going to try stopping the coptis for a couple days, right? To see if the new symptom abates?

This happened to me when I started the Resveratrol.
I apparently was getting more blood to my brain, because I began to get my mind back.

But...I also got kidney pain.

I stopped the Resveratrol, and the kidney pain stopped.
I started it again, and the kidney pain began again.

Crap.

I really liked having my mind working again.

I do feel much better today than yesterday. Thank God.

However, I still am far from where I have been the past two months. I did stop ViraMax that I was taking. It is a male enhancing herb mix. Could be a combo of chemicals doing it too.

I have taken Yohimbine for about 10 years now, except for one 3 or 4 month stoppageseveral years ago. (And your only supposed to take it for not more than 10 weeks at a time as longer testing hasn't been done on it). Therefore the reason for taking Viramax.

I have needed something since my illeostomy 2nd operation. I did try Yohimbe bark whole herb in 600mg pill once a day, a couple of months ago, and I got similar symptoms to what I have now. It is a little confusing. I don't know IF there is a combo problem somewhere or what. I wasn't having these symptoms when I took the Yohimbine extract without the Viramax. (Maybe the Coptis is reacting similar to the Yohimbe herb?).

The reason I thought of West Nile, is the symptoms I have are very much like them. But also similar to Babs.

I will probably stop the Coptis for a couple of days, IF I am not a lot better in the morning.

I did stop the Andrographis after my first day or two of Coptis. I thought maybe the two antispirochetal herbs might be too much together. Although, I am only taking 3 600-650mg pills a day, which is less than two grams, which is considered a low dose of the Coptis. 20 grams is considered high dose. And it is supposed to be toxic at high dose.

I COULD be herxing, since it is new to my system and would be killing those ketes that maybe got used to the Andrographis. THAT IS the main reason I decided to take Coptis.

Also, JWF, has taken it and Andrographis and he appears to be healed of the Lyme and Morgellans, according to their latest tests.

BUT I am thinking it COULD possibly be a flu bug also. ?????? At first I was thinking maybe Babs kicking up, though I don't know IF I have that or not for sure. That is why I would like to get a Babs test. IS IGeneX the best for that one? And I hadn't taken the Artemisia annua at the end of my two weeks off, like I should have. It was one day short of three weeks when I started again. But taking the Artemisia annua did NOT help any with all my symptoms.

The symptoms this past week are mainly:
Blurred vision. Wooziness. Pain in right
eye. Bloodshot eyes. Very tired. Loss of
balance. Very shaky. Nervous feeling. A
little nausea. Loss of short term Memory.
Loss of concentration. Kind of a pressure and
slight pain in both temples. Also swelling of
the Lymph nodes. Other minor symptoms.

Thanks for your info everyone.

Hi, JimBob -

I just wanted to say welcome to the World of Medicare. Let me know if you ever figure out what's covered and what isn't.....

Wow, I was shocked to learn that Wisconsin only has 1 LLMD. I figured that was a place where you could probably find a good Lyme doc without going to far.

One thing I do know is that Igenex accepts Medicare assignment for Lyme testing. So are you going to go for being tested with Igenex if you can find a duck to do it?

Sounds like a toxic liver.

Personally, I'd back off everything.

There's more than one LLMD in Wisconsin. In fact, I personally know of a half a dozen doc's in my area that treat long-term. There's two doc's in this state that I would consider "exceptional" LLMD's.

Jim, send me an e-mail if you still have my address. Otherwise send me a PM. If your looking for an Igenex Babs test you must realize that there's various strains that may not show up but you could still have it.

Your symptoms don't appear to be a babs herx though. I agree with Bugaboo that it sounds more like a detox issue. Lymph, liver, adrenals, spleen, etc. may be the more likely culprits.

Hi Everyone. Thanks for all the info.

I stopped taking the Coptis today. I should know by tomorrow or the next day HOW good I feel without it. I was warned to be cautious with it as it is supposed to be a very strong herbal drug.

I did double the Red Root tincture also, and am still taking three Milk Thistle capsules a day. And I went back up to three Sarsaparilla capsules instead of the two each time I had gone down to. So now actually will be 9 Sarsaparilla's a day.

You could be quite right on toxic Lymph system. The Coptis maybe brought it up there fast. I was only taking three capsules a day, but maybe would have to start out on ONE a day like I originally did with my other herbs and gradually ramped up on them.

I haven't had the swelling of my lymph nodes for the last two days, so the Red Root must be working good at double my usual dosage. I am also taking one 600 mg capsule a day of Artemisia annua so that could be giving me a good kill off of ketes. I usually double the Red Root, also, when I take that.

What really bugs me is the poor vision and lack of balance at times yet. My vision had gotten pretty good most of the time for the past 6 months. Sometimes excellent. Though I am better today than the past two days, as far as over all feeling.

Thanks Tracy on the Igenex info for Medicare thing. Now I have some ammunition when I go to my duck.

Mike, I will email you from my hotmail email.
When I put it to Ilads I only got the ONE LLMD down in Fond du lac. The one in Eagle River no longer takes patients according to my information.

I don't know of any others. Funny you can't find them on the net.

Thanks everyone.

Bug, I have stopped ALL herbs now except Milk Thistle and Red Root tincture for the liver and the rest of the lymph system. And Periwinkle for the eyes. Also kept the C-Salts and vitamin E. Oh, yes, also kept the Sarsaparilla to cleanse the blood.

Stopped the Coptis a couple days ago, and the rest for today, and/or maybe tomorrow. Then back on the rest till I feel better. THEN MAY try Coptis again, but only one capsule a day at first and see WHAT it does.

IF it is the liver, and Coptis is killing all those bugs, then I surely would want to try taking it again, right?

Yes, Mike, I would maybe like info on him. THough he may be about 10 miles further than doctor M.

Have you heard WHAT protocols HE uses compared to Dr. M?

I have been feeling considerably better tonight. Getting real tired now though so going to hit the sack as soon as I finish this.

Take care,
jim
