Hi! I'm new to this board and I'm wondering about the use of homeopathics and herbs, vitamins, and such for the treatment of lyme and co-infections.

What have you tried? How did it work? Is it still working?

Thanks,
Cheppie

Cheppie, I'm afraid this is a too large subject to talk in a single thread.

there were a few threads on homeopathy and lyme not too long ago (check posts by Truthfinder) or search for 'ledum', or 'borrelia nosodes', or 'Deseret Biologicals'.

As for herbs, almost everyone is using an herb or another. Starting by milk thistle, artichoke, nettles, green teas, detox teas etc.

You can search for Cowden herbs or Buhner herbs to start reading about lyme treatment and herbs.

Good reading!

Cheppie,

There is a search button up at the top. As Selma said, there are tons of posts on these different topics.

There's a discussion right now on Buhner's protocol, which is an herbal protocol for Lyme. It is here http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=058808

The other herbal protocol is the Cowden protocol. You can search here, and search Cowden and Lyme on a search engine.

Do you know what homeopathy is? If not, I would start by doing some general searches on the internet to see what it is. And also do the searches Selma recommended on this board to learn what homeopathy is.

Many people also use supplements to help complement Lyme treatment. There are tons and tons of different supplements people use. A lot of LLMDs (Lyme Literate medical doctors) prescribe supplements as part of their treatment protocol to help boost the system and take care or protect the liver or other organs.

Hi, Cheppie - welcome!

Selma and Aniek are right! This is a huge subject and it would be difficult for everyone to post their alternative personal protocol here on this thread.

The link below might be a great place to start. I don't think there's anything much in here about homeopathics, but LOTS of links to discussions here at LymeNet about herbal and other supplemental treatments:
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=050753

If you already know what homeopathy really is, this LymeNet discussion on homeopathy might be a good place to start. It is a long thread but perhaps you will find some interesting information there:
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=053441;p=1

Hope this helps.

Tracy

HI:

May I suggest you go to the Amazon.com site to the left of this thread and do like I did 23 months ago and buy the book Healing Lyme by Stephen H. Buhner. It sure turned my life, or lack of it, around.

And by all means take the girls advice and check out the many, many posts on Herbs, and Homeopathics here on LymeNet. Also, another site has even more about herbs and healing Lyme, on a daily basis, called Lyme_Aid_Buhner. It is not a big site like this one, but it is more concentrated with us Lymies that want to do what is right for our bodies, without destroying our guts doing it.

I am not against abx, but I do believe they are overused and abused for this disease AND others.

Some people NEED abx along with the herbs to get the help they need. I was one who relapsed from the help abx gave me, and the abx were so destructive on my stomach, I could hardly survive day to day.

Hope your healing will come soon.
