Does anyone know about abx called "cefazoline?"

My elderly mom has long suffered from dementia and has declined to the point of recently losing language.

She broke her hip two days ago and was rushed to surgery where they replaced her hip. She was put on IV "cefazoline" and has improved so much that she is starting to talk again.

I have long believed that from years of living in Cape Cod and sleeping with her dog (German Shepard), that my mom contracted Lyme. Family disagreed and wrote off her ills to early onset senility/Alzheimers.

The catch is: the path of her decline is not typical. She's had eye issues with repeated conjunctivitis, balance issues, arthritis issues, blood pressure issues, depression and anxiety, dementia starting at 68 (she's 85 now).

I've asked that they not issue steroids for inflammation, since i fear Lyme reactions. Now I'm trying to get her decent Lab testing.

So, does anyone know about "cefazoline"?

Thanks,

thanks for the links, Tree!

The effects of this abx on my mom has been like the movie "Awakenings"!

Anyone have first had experience with it?

Wise, I don't have anything to add about this abx, but I did want to say good luck with finally helping your mom. This is a WOW story.
