I saw a specialists on July 5th...started antibiotics the next day (Augmentin & Biaxin).

I started having the same symtpoms again within 48 hours.

I have aching hips and neck. I've now been on antibiotics 9 days. I am weak & droopy feeling.

How long can this last?

I was bit by a tick & developed the rash on June 22.

I still have 2 more weeks of antibiotics and one week of Flagyl to go.

I feel like such a wimp.

It depends on how sick you are. If you are still having symptoms after the abx are all gone then get more! You may need them for a few months.

Most LLMD's recommend taking abx until all symptoms are gone, its better safe then sorry! You don't want to end up like most of us on here --- taking abx for years and years.

Also -- some LLMD's are doing research on bullseye rashes. Some believe it is an indicator of a previous infection, so it may be possible you've had it longer then you realize.

This was true in my son and sisters case. Both had EM rashes and had allready been infected with Bb.

Good luck,
Lisi

Mom, welcome to our lyme world of aches, pains, etc. You are herxing which is good that the ABX are helping you get rid of the spirochetes in your body.

I agree, get another 1-2 months of ABX refills so you can be CURED vs. me misdiagnosed for 34 years, and on LONG-TERM ABX. Go get them now while it's fresh in your body and can be killed off completely.

You decide when to quit; don't let the MD decide for you. You know how your body is feeling & responding....LISTEN TO IT!
