Hello! I'm writing because I know many of you can relate to my frustration with my health insurance carrier. I just received my second rejection letter from them today for the services that I received at Columbia and I'm really in need of your help so that I can try again to get them to cover some or hopefully most of these expensive tests.
Like so many of you, I have been ill off and on for years without the "typical" arthritic symptoms so I went to Columbia in sheer desperation looking for a black or white answer. While most of testing (cognitive and SPECT scan) showed results consistent with lyme, my bloodwork came back equivocal. As you can imagine I was once again left feeling frustrated and let down, especially after the doctor told me to "wait until I start feeling bad before seeking treatment since lyme is slow progressing."
I called Value Options before I went to have the testing done and they gave me pre certification number. I followed up with another call the day before my trip and and they notified me that all tests needed to be pre approved, but just to go anyway and have the doctor call for pre ertification. The doctor didn't reach them until after my testing and now they are fighting my claim and all bloodwork, etc. done on that date!
Please, if any of you have been in this position and could give me some pointers I would greatly appreciate your help. I am so disappointed with the results that I received and now with this fight for coverage...Thank you so much in advance!

Do a search on lymenet for "insurance appeals". My letter should come up, and it deals with me having to fight my insurance company.
Also, in general support is a recent thread by me on "insurance finally paid." And yes, they finally paid my entire Columbia bill. It took 16 months of letter writing on my part, but they paid...every cent.
It can be done. Don't give up. Timaca
