I get BAD anxiety when I am herxing or in a flare.

I have had panic attacks in the past as well with flagyl herx for which I respond nicely to xanax.

Call your doc, they should be able to help.

I get very prone to anxiety/panic attacks when i am herxing, my guess is that the toxin release causes this.

Hi Help,
I also am one who has anxiety when I herx. When I began treatment there was alot of crying going on around my house.

You see I began treatment without any definite diagnosis. My daughter and I were both ill and I had no real help from the expert doctors I was seeing.

I found the missing pieces to our puzzle through Dr. katherine Poelhmann who wrote a book called Rheumatoid Arthritis The Infection Connection. Her book covers far more than R.A.

I decided to have her on a morning show I did for our local station. The response was tremendous. Alot of people are very unhappy with thier current health situation meds doctors etc.

From there I went to www.immed.org and onto www.roadback.org and spoke with many people like me .I fell into the rheumatic CFS FM catagory.I also read a book by henry scammel recommended by the road back website. All this info led me here.

When I began to take the doxy for the first time I was scared because I began to feel horrible but I studied the material and calmed down abit.
As Dr poelhmann said you are now on the road to recovery. She was right.I had to feel worse before I will feel better.

I am so much better now and more important my daughter who is now 12 is going back to school after missing 2 years (home schooled). Now when I try a new antibiotic I brace myself and try not to let the herx get the best of me.When it makes me feel bad I know its working which Ill take anyday over what my daughter and I were dealing with before.Blessings to you and you are not alone.RG

I had anxiety as my first lyme symptom. When I first tried Tetracycline last year I had major..MAJOR..I can't stress that enough..anxiety. I didn't know it was the abx/herx causing it though. I wasn't seeing an LLMD at the time.

I take paxil cr now to help me but the anxiety and sadness still comes back slightly every 4 weeks. I know why I have it now so it doesn't bother me as much. I try to excercise as much as I can tolerate and that helps a little bit.

Could be nerves try to stay calm!
It could also mean lyme has reched your brain keep treating.Toxins also being created from die off . [group hug]

I'm not taking abx but I have anxiety when I herx using the Rife machine. I hate that creepy feeling of impending doom!

Even though I KNOW that's what it is - its still hard to go through. Detoxing, drinking distilled water and just drinking lots of water helps. Exercise if you can, sit in a hot Epsom Salt bath (not too hot).

I have a steam tent with oxygen/ozone piped in from a tube and it helps tremendously with my herxing since I'm really sweating out a lot of the toxins. Its worth the investment.

Try to find a combination of detoxing when you're herxing and it will help lessen the strength and the length of it.

At least I have found that works for me.
