This is a silly question, especially since I'm a numbers person, but just checking.
Does 1 and one half 5/500 Vicodin equal 1 7.5/750 Vicodin?
My prescription ran out and my LLMD and PCP are both on vacation. I have enough of an old prescription of 5/500 to get me through with 1 and a half at a time.
But took one and a half earlier and I'm in intense pain. I want to make sure I've taken my usual dose.

Mathwise it sounds about right...
But hey...who knows where the 2.5 of codein is located among the 500 acetaminaphine???? in one pill///
Maybe you got the half with no codeine and the other half has it all...???
IF you're still in pain I mean...
an old friend of mine always wanted to buy my 7/750's...and have a beer on the golf course with them...cus he said all he could get were the 5/500's and they sucked....
and NO I did'nt sell him or give him any...I was in too much pain to do without myself...thankyou....fortunately I'm not using anything but advil for pain these days...sometimes I kick it up a notch with muscle relaxers after I've been active and in more pain.....zman

I took one and a half Acyclovir earlier, not Vicodin. Good thing I've never done it the other way...

Call the Pharmacist to be safe and sure.

First, I would call the pharmacy and speak directly to the pharmacist for information. Solid dose formulations( pills) have inert substances( powder) that keeps all the medication intact within it. I do not remember if these pills are scored that would allow the pills to be safely and correctly cut in half.
Gel caps, capsules and medications that are coated should not be split apart. They have time released properties or coatings for specific absorption sites in the stomach track.
Also, check the expiration date on your pills to make sure they have not lost any potency.
Again, pharmacy would be able to tell you how to proceed correctly.

generally, vicodin tablets are scored, meaning you can break them in half safely.
Um, taking the acyclovir instead of the vicodin would definitely explain why you are still in pain!!!!
I believe your math is right -- 1 and a half of the 5/500 should equal one of the 7/750. Contrary to popular belief, vicodin is actually a pretty safe drug, as long as it is used appropriately (not mixed with alcohol, etc.) and taken only for pain. The biggest worry is that it will cause respiratory depression (difficulty breathing) which shouldn't likely happen unless you exceed your regular dose. With any acetominophen containing drug, it is best to have your liver #s checked regularly, too.

Thanks all.
I checked with the pharmacist this morning. And, as I realized when I took the right pill, it is scored.
