Okay, I'm on day 12 of Zithromax and I don't know if I'm herxing or yeasting or having fall allergies or all of the above, but I'm miserable. I looked at the Candida list and it looks exactly like the Lyme list. (I don't have a vaginal yeast infection.) Fall allergies make my skin burn and my face get puffy.

Here's my whining list: My head is pressurized, I can't think, I can't decide, being around people makes me want find solitude (not good with 2 kids), sound and light is intense, I'm anxious and depressed, my body aches like the flu, I feel hot, my ears are stuffed, I'm weak and sleepy and having bizarre dreams, and I can't sleep and I want to cry! Vision is blurry and unfocused, GERD is out of control despite Prevacid, little appetite, joints are sore.

I try to walk every other day, eat three meals and drink a lot of water. The acidopholus started giving me herxy gut symptoms, so I stopped it but continue yogurt.

Top it all off with my husband getting a bullseye rash and I feel rotten and oversensitized and worried. (LLMD saw him right away and DH is on doxy as of today.)

So do I write it off to a herx or candida or what? I'm seeing my nutrition MD on Thursday (who found the Lyme to begin with and sent me to LLMD). In the meantime, I'm popping a Benedryl and folding laundry -- sport of the housebound.

Anyone else experienced with the confusion of herxing, candida and allergies? As Dorothy Parker was known to have said, "What fresh Hell is this?"

Why don't you follow the yeast free diet for awhile and see if you feel better??

I would buy some Theralac ASAP... or the one Dr Mercola sells.

Not taking acidophilus is NOT a good idea!!! I've always found yogurt to make things worse...too much sugar.

hope that helps!!

Thanks Lymetoo,

I'll look up Theralac. Is it compromising to double herx on abx as well as acidopholus?

Acidopholous doesn't usually cause a herx. It prevents yeast, but doesn't really kill it like an antifungal. You may want to talk to your doctor about diflucan or another antifungal...which will cause a herx if you have candida.

Did all these symptoms start or get much worse since starting the zith? If it came on or increased pretty quickly, I'd suspect it's more likely a herx than yeast. Yeast doesn't happen over night.

It also seems a bit more intense than general allergies. Although the allergies could be worsening the herx.

I started zith slowly, 250 mg twice a week. Now I just take 250 mg every other day. I'm small, so my LLMD often gives me smaller doses. But zith can hit you with a really, really bad herx. I spent the first few nights I took it up in pain that Vicodin didn't touch.

I hope you feel better soon.
