Mix the powder with 1% Lidocaine, NOT sterile water. I like to think I'm prettty tough and have been injecting myself with Bicillin for years. However, when I made the mistake of trying Rocephin with bacteriostatic water, it forced me to lie down for about fifteen minutes afterwards. With Lidocaine, it's not bad at all. You can get 50 ml. vials at CostCo for less than $6.00.

this, clearly is not from personal experience but my doctor, says no--it is not as effective as IV.
However, for several reasons I feel IV not to be good idea for me, and my doctor thinks IM is the next best thing. I've given this a lot of thought but I've yet to talk with anyone that has done it 'cept Dave(see above)
Anyone else out their willing to talk about their expereinces with it? Or pm me?

Wild Condor took Rocephin I.M. and speaks well of this route.
