Antibiotics are used to fight borrelia burgdorferi infection. Can borrelia burgdorferi cause neurological problems, or is it a coinfection that causes them? Both?

If neuropathy could be caused by a coinfection, which one(s)? And what do you use to treat it (or them)?

I've only seen my LLMD once. He treats Lyme with antibiotics, but waits awhile before testing for coinfections. I have neurological problems: 3 types of neuropathy that have gotten much worse in a very short period of time. The damage it's done is permanent...once nerves die, they do not come back to life. If a coinfection is involved, I want to get treatment as soon as possible. I need to get aggressive so that this can be stopped in its tracks.

Lyme disease can cause neurological symptoms!
It is the main set of symptoms that we see in chronic Lyme disease. Co-infections can also do this, and complicate Lyme, if you already have it, and you can get more than one infection from the same tick bite.

Please do some research on this topic. Type in Neuroborreliosis, or neurological Lyme disease and you will get a ton of information.

My LLMD has seen neuropathy symptoms decrease in Lyme patients. So don't assume your symptoms can't reverse.
