hi to all of you dealing with cipro and mycoplasma. how are you doing now? last post i found about it was in may. how long and what dose did it take you to get a handle on the mycoplasma? how did you know you got it? is there a test that says it's gone...or do you just know what symptoms went with mycoplasma...or did you stop herxing with cipro? thanks...i'm pretty sure that is what i am dealing with now even tho the doc that gave me the cipro for a sinus infection doesn/t have a clue.

I have been on cipro for about 5 weeks now for kidney,uti and other issues related to ureteral surgery, but I was right in the middle of treating BART with rifampin when all this started so switching to cipro was a bonus in some ways.
I talked for along time with my LLMD who is a parmacist yesterday. TECHNICALLY cipro can not kill lyme. in the lab you need a certain concentration that is not possible with oral cipro. BUT he said the labs are testing on a strain that is NOT what is seen in humans now. Also, many LLMDS in ILADS are reporting that cipro IS affecting lyme and they are reporting SOME benefits.
MOST of cipro is excreted in the urine and feces and a bunch of it is viable when it reaches your bladder, which is why it is used so often for UTIs and bladder and kidney. Levaquin is exreted almost exclusively in the urine and the amount of viable medication as it hits the bladder is much higher. I forget the #'S
I hope this helps some people understand more.
I still would like to know about mycoplasma and cipro though. trails

Cipro is a good antibiotic for mycoplasma. I was only on it for a short time but it helped me a lot. I did 1000 mg/d.
Look into Factive, it has better activity than most floroquinlones against mycoplasma.

thanks. i'm takinf 400mg once a day. the hers is getting easier to handle now that i am going on two weeks. at first i was in bed for 12 or more hours after i took it. now after 3-4 hrs i can get up and do some stuff.
