I've been on biaxin for 3 months, and about a month ago, noticed tremendous improvement -- my symptoms were almost gone. Now they are coming back - fatigue, stiff joints, headaches. How do you know if it's a herx, a last die-off, or if the spirochetes have become resistant to the abx? It's very discouraging, but I'm sure I don't have to tell you guys that. Carol

This is a question that i have been wondering also. It seems that we have to endure treatment over the long-term (I am only 3 months into treatment).
If you write down the timing of these herx/relapses, then it could be very valuable for your treatment (IMHO) if you see a pattern over time. And valuable for answering this question.
I have heard that herxes have a 28-day cycle (do the bb emerge or replicate every 28-days?), and if you have a pattern of good-days and bad-days emerging over time, perhaps it will coincide with herxes.
IMH and non-doctor opinion! It has been important for me to try to view these setbacks optimistically...and so far experience has supported that attitude!
