ok, i have been doing research on the web. there is such a thing as a mouth ulcer, especially in people with autoimmune disorders, which i think lyme is.
so my mind made this jump. since the doc did not do a culture, just looked at it, how could he tell it was strep, other than he said my lymph nodes were very swollen.
the pictures of those ulcers look exactly like what i have, a small dark red area on the side of my mouth with a small white spot in the middle of it.
here's another thing, i have been taking the threelac. ok, it's a powder. could it have aggravated the mouth or something?
could this be yeast related instead? here are some yeast symptom?
dry mouth rash or blisters in mouth sore throat laryngitis cough
i have all these and more
i don't know. i'm just trying to make sense of all this.
also, since threelac is a powder and you put it in your mouth seems like it could act as an acid. i usually drink a little water but sometimes i don't.

Given your circumstances, I think I would demand a throat culture. Not just a swab to determine strep.
Certainly NO need to treat for strep if it's not there!!!!!

do you have a fever?
strep can kill you. 2 weeks of abx will not.
If you are still unsure get the strep test-but don't wait too long.

Yeast would not cause swollen Lymph nodes. Also I think the sore throat is much worse with strep than from yeast.
I still think you need to treat assuming it is strep -- the antibiotic (Cipro) will work on Lyme or bartonella so I can't see any reason not to take it.
This is not medical advice, just my opinion.

Most mouth ulcer are due to a unknown etiolgy called RAU (recurrant aphtous ulcers)
these ulcers come and go and are initiated usually by stress to the body, physical, mental.
they have been around for years and probably not related to lyme.
they have an unknown origin, but my theory after 23 years as a dentist, they are probably some for of herpes virus ,that has yet to be determined.
they usually only occur when you are under alot of stress or you are sick with a virus or cold.
the lesions on the lip called cold sores are herpes simplex and act very similar to RAU. they go into hiding in the nerve endings, and like the name come out when your body is stressed, many with cold but also mental.
acyclovir cream is good to lessen the length of outbreak, but the usually time is 7-14 days and should get better by itself.
limit acid and salty foods.

could this be yeast related instead? Yes
Also you said strep has a worse sore throat than yeast when I had a bad yeast infection in my mouth Ill say this it was like haveing a burn blister 2"x2" skin on top of blister pealed off. It hurt worse to me than the strep I had as a kid.
