Is there anyone taking Amoxicillin (Amoxil) right now? If so, at what daily dose?

Are you also on another ABX like Flagyl or Tindamax?

Thanks,
Jill

I took Amoxy for a while. I took 1000 mg three times a day.

I took it mostly with other stuff (Biaxin, then Levaquin, then Ketek). I stopped all abx for a couple months and then restarted just Amoxy and my Lyme progressed rapidly during that period.

I was on it for a few months. Took up to 18 g per day. Most of the time 12-18 g/day. It is a safe dose as long you drink enough water.

It seemed to help for a while but later I have relapsed. Possible because of Bart.

I was on amoxy for the last 6 weeks, 3g/day.

I went up to 4.5 g/day but starting having itchy hives, so cut back to 3g/day.

I just switched back to doxy, 400mg/day. My llmd says that amoxy takes several months to work, but my symptoms are bad enough that I did not want to wait 4 months to see any improvement!

I am not sure amoxy did much for me. Which is why I switched back to doxy -- which seemed to be quite powerful in abating lyme symptoms.

It means that in the case of 3 day urine test you start your abx the first day of test stay on abx's,, then second day urine sample staying on abx's then third day of urine sample,, {{{1.A. "now continue using abx's this is for second part of test series"}}}

Usually first day is negative or equivical. second day and third day in my wifes case and mine we were possitve for all markers ie antibodies antigens.

Now back to {as above} {{{1.A."now continue using abx's this is for second part of test series"}}} which is the Western Blot at end of month after taking abx's the whole month they draw blood and send off to Igenex.

Priming means to Kill spirochetes and that sets antibodies free they become unattached from spirochetes.

Then your body starts to remove them {{no longer needed}} because spirochetes are dead. Removal first part is in the blood second part is urine.

That means you have more of them floating free thus a better chance for Possitive test.

I am waiting to see if the insurance company is going to pay to get prescription filled. I do not recall the dosage.

I also will be taking Zithro, a sulfa drug and I think that is about it.

I'm on Amoxicillin 500mg, 1 cap 3 times a day and that's to be taken with Probenecid 500mg, 1 tab. 2x's a day.
I started that treatment on Aug. 24th,for 8 weeks and to change to Doxy for 8 weeks.

I believe he said a 3 day break in between,is that normal?

Kennedy,

I would think a break would be wise inbetween
changing antibiotics. I dont know how normal.

1500mg seems like a lower than normally prescribed dose. I opted out on the probenecid
How is it going so far for you?

i took 3,000mg amoxy plus probenicid. it kicked up something fierce and i had so much muscle pain i couldnt walk for days. I have since moved on to o0ther drugs but the muscle pain is still there---just less than that original herx.

It is hard to say if it helped at all. I am not nearly as well as i want to be. but others have reported great success.

Amoxicillin 3000 mg. per day, divided into three doses.

Accompanied by 1500 mg. per day of Probenecid, divided in three 500-mg doses, to keep blood levels high.

This, along with various other combos, has been a mainstay of treatment (sometimes with Flagyl, sometimes with Plaquenil, briefly with Biaxin but it precluded my rescue headache med Relpax), now with Zithromax + repeat of babesia meds.

High doses of amoxicillin are believed to penetrate the blood-brain barrier where infection is present. For me it is much easier tolerated than doxy (bleccchhhh!). My original thinking, that I had "plateau'd" on it, was actually that I had babesia WA1 but had never tested for it. Duh.
