Has anybody switched from Mepron/Biaxin to Malarone/Biaxin? If so what were your results concerning the Babs?

I haven't, Hides, but seems like someone will come around sooner or later that can give you some input.
I've only recently begun Malarone/ketek/artemisinin and have nothing to compare it to.

Hi-
Like True, I don't have an exact comparison, but for what its worth-
I've been taking Malarone for about a month(added to my mino), have been waiting to add artesimin til I can figure out my abdominal pain, but the Malarone all by its lonesome seems to be doing a great job on neuro symptoms (thus babs is implicated?).
I'll be speaking to my LLMD next week to see what else he may want to add to throw at babs, will let you know if that ends up being biaxin --
Good luck- Dilly

Hides, I switched from Mepron/Biaxin to Malarone/Ketek - not an exact comparison, but maybe it will be helpful to you.
I had a break of several months in between, though, so it wasnt' an immediate switch - babs relapsed, and WA-1 surfaced, and LLMD put me on Malarone and Ketek.
I've been on this combo (plus artemisin & omnicef, and pulsing flagyl once monthly) for a few months. The progress has been slow, but I do see it - I'm having more "good" days than I have in years. I've had a recent problem with massive headaches, though. Going to talk to the LLMD about that next week.
Healthy wishes comin' at ya.

Thanks everyone! I have been on the Mepron for so long and I just wondered if the Malarone was any better.
Cactus I too pulse the Flagyl and am just done with my third round of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. The first two times I did it I had a lot of nerve pain/tingling in legs, etc. Dr. B said to take extra B when this happens with the Flagyl. Then the third round of pulsing with it I got terrible headaches(inflammed feeling, etc). My head always hurts but this was bad. I think it was a nerve issue or a herx issue but anyway now that the Flagyl is stopped it has calmed down.

Thank you, Hides! I have bad burning/tingling in my feet and hands anyway, but with flagyl it increases tenfold... I will try adding in more B when I take flagyl.
The headaches are unreal - I'm hoping it's herx, too.
Hope the malarone works well for you.

Cactus, I had burning in feet and tingling with flagyl and ignored it. Now, it looks like it might be permanant, so you be very careful with that stuff.
I was on mepron/biaxin and then mepron/zithro. I also switched to Malerone/biaxin and did malerone/zithro.
I get much better results with mepron, and oh how I wish that weren't true because the stuff tastes like garbage. We all it the "yellow paint" at my house.
My doc also told me that mepron is the "gold standard" for babs treatment.
This doc who sort of specializes in babs even tried to combine mepron + malerone + zithro to get rid of the babs, and at one time we added in the bactrim. But no luck for Mary.
Hope that helps.
