There was a post a while back about it, but I can't find it in a search. Somebody got a warning from a doctor or a website that the soil organisms used in probiotics like Primal Defense may be dangerous.
I don't know enough to know if that is true or not. But it made me nervous enough to stay away.
I had a doctor say he doesn't think Primal Defense gets to the lower intestines. He recommended Theraupeutics Probiotic Pearls. My other doctor recommended Therelac. I take both of those.

Hi Rob.
Get Theralac. See website by the same name.
It's the bomb. Take one last thing before bed at night (if that's a safe time away from abx).
The little probiotic "pearls" are kinda cool to have too because they don't need refrigerated.
Stay one step ahead of the Yeast Beast.

One of those two posts awhile back about the soil organisms possibly being dangerous was from me. One of these days I'll find the newsletter - at the moment, my office is overrun by paperwork I have to file away.
But it was from a health newsletter I subscribe to by Dr. Nan Fuchs, a nutritionist whose track record I respect.
Even though I've been on probiotics throughout Lyme treatment (and really, most of my life), I found Theralac too strong for me. Probably means I have some gut yeast that it hit hard. But if I were to try it again, I'd dump out half of it and start at a lower dose.
But that's just me - I'm very sensitive to things.
A nutritionist I used to see for celiac disease was a huge fan of Culturelle because there were scientific tests on it. I used it for a while until a Lyme naturopath switched me to something else.

I used to use it until I read here that it really doesn't contain much probiotics. I didn't have an opinion one way or another so it wasn't a problem to give it up for something else. If you do a search you may come up with that info.
I switch probiotics around a bit to keep things interesting. I like Garden of Life products but they are really expensive.

I used it but it wasn't strong enough. Theralac is the absolute best. When I was on Primal Defense I had to be on a super strict anti yeast diet and still was having problems. With Theralac yeast is under control and I have been able to eat more normally (still a very healthy diet though).
I do like to use Primal Defense powder when my tongue gets whitish. I sprinkle a little powder on my tongue and it helps. hats
