My nephew has been switched from Septra and Spectracef to Doxy and Omnicef. He did so well on the first regimen but his LLMD said 1)they're not making Spectracef anymore, 2)the Septra was for suspected Bartonella which he feels was adequately treated. Doxy and Omni sounds like a good regimen -- who has been on this? (Together, I mean.) Thanks.

I am on both of them. Doxy 300mg/day, Omni 600mg/day. Feel herx for 3 days, not too bad. No other serious side effects except upset stomach sometimes. I am also on Nystitain.

Thanks Mip. He did go downhill when he was switched (and that was to just the Omni, the Doxy was added a week or so later. The Septra he was taken off entirely). We wondered if he was having a herx even though the two abx are so closely related.
To be on the safe side another doc on call added Doxy and his LLMD agreed that Omni & Doxy was a good regimen for him to try.
How long have you (anyone?) been on this, and has it proved helpful? I've been on Doxy and Omni both longterm but not together. Thanks.
