As with many of you, I've gone the route of every specialist my GP would send me to.

For pain, I have been given steroids in a dose pack which had me in the ER in such horrid pain and I wasn't aware of lyme and just thought I was dying.

Years later, they sent me to a psysiatrist (not psychiatrist since I've been there too) but he did an mri and told me it was just degernative disc disease with spurs which must be causing pain all over my body

He felt I need to see an anestesiologist that did two rounds of epidural steroids and here I am, back in bed, horrid pain, and now I'm not even able to walk on my own.

My Naturapathic doctor sent me to a lyme specialist which is looking like I'm ending the five year search, but now I find out that these steroids have harmed me more than helped.

So I'm wondering what other meds are contraindicated before I fall for anymore mistakes, trying to get relief?

Cathy

Cathy -- other than steroids, I know of no rx that are specifically contraindicated for LD. I also had a big dose of steroids back in the bad old early days of LD tx -- after coinfection tx and other supplementation, I seem to be overcoming the damage they did.

What you will find is that LLMDs have very different approaches to what abx to use, for how long, and in combination with what other abx and what supplements/herbs. There are some strong disagreements about this within the LL community.

Aside from different individual approaches, your treatment regimen will be determined by what (if any) coinfections you have -- coinfections from the tick itself (e.g. babesia, bartonella, erlichia) and from opportunistic infections already present that the TBD/impaired immune system have encouraged (yeast, mold, c. difficile, viruses). There are very differing views and strong opinions about this, too--including whether the problems are even identified.

Ditto for other issues such as heavy metals toxicity, endotoxin problems, chemical sensitivities, hormonal issues and vitamin/mineral depletion.

Check in with any questions you have. I won't guarantee any definitive answers, but I will guarantee a very diverse set of experiences and viewpoints.
