I didn't think to ask my daughter's doc this during our visit, but we are supposed to be switching from Biaxin/plaquenil over to tetracycline.

Is it safe to finish up the old meds one night, and then start full tilt with the new the next morning?

Should we take a day or 2 off before switching? or slowly ramp up to a full dose of the tetra?

As a side note, she has never had tetra before, but did tolerate some doxy in the past.

I'll be doing the same thing soon too.

Dr D. told me to just switch from one to the other. Last time I switched I skipped the final dose of Tetra and then switched to P&B the next day. After 2 years without a break I thought I could skip one dose! The other times I just switched.

The hardest part for me is getting used to the new dosing & meal schedule.

I've made a lot of progress on tetra. Watch out for the sun.

Always call your Dr office and ask these questions...usually you just switch over..but everybody has a different protocol. [Smile] Check to be sure.
