Hi Everyone, I'm just wondering if someone could advise a friend of mine. He has been diagnosed with M.E (although I'm sure it's LD)but he doesn't want to look into the LD yet... Anyway, he just found out that he had Herpes Virus 7, which he says is apparently a cause of M.E??? He wonders if people who have LD get this virus easily and how is it treated? Does anyone have this and could I ask what you are taking to treat it? Thanks for your help.

95% of the population has it. It is very common and the question then is how does he know it is active vs. latent? I would look at Coriolus, Lauricidin, possibly Takuna or other Nutramedix antimicrobials as options. Not sure if Valtrex helps but it does help with HSV1, HSV2, and shingles so I would not be surprised if it had some effect.

You might try to do some reading at www.hhv-6foundation.org. This site deals with HHV-6, not HHV-7, but it may be of help to you.
Chronic viral illnesses have symptoms that are very similar to lyme disease. From what I can gather, one can't differentiate whether a person is sick with a viral illness or lyme disease based on symptoms alone.
Scott...Dr. Montoya's theory at Stanford Medical Center regarding whether or not a virus is active or latent....He looks at the IgG level. If it is hugely elevated for a certain age group, then he is suspicious that that person may have active infection. (eg healthy people in their 40s have a certain IgG level, if someone presents with an IgG level that is significantly above that level, then they may be ill with the virus) If you read the testing link at the HHV-6 website, it will give you further info.
I have elevated titres to HHV-6, EBV, and CMV but not HHV-7. I am on valcyte, an antiviral drug that is effective against HHV-6.

This is an interesting thread for me as I'm trying to get a definitive diagnosis. I may have lyme, a virus, or both.
My CFS doc thinks it's HHV6, but he has never done any viral testing. He says it can come and go like my remitting/relapsing CFS. I initially came down with CFS after a severe flulike illness with high fevers (103), chills, and sweats at the end of May 2000.
I'm into my third bout of CFS that's lasting more than a year. I'm checking into Lyme. I've been herxing on cumanda and burbur, so I'm not sure if it is attacking the bacteria, parasites, or viruses.
I've tried to take lauricidin in the past, but that made me very sick. I also tried some takuna drops and they just bagged me. In another month I think I will try the banderol and rotate with the cumanda. Does this sound like a good idea if you don't really know what you have?
I'm scheduled to see an LLMD next months. I'm awaiting my test results from Igenex (western blot.) What more can I dao?
Thanks for your input.

My approach (which may be different from yours) would be to try to identify what it is I'm sick with before treatment. You are getting some labs done at Igenex, that is good. You also might consider doing additional lyme testing at Stonybrook and MDL labs.
I would also ask your doctor to run some viral tests at Focus Diagnostics lab. Use this lab so he and you can compare your results to what Dr. Montoya considers high.
