I only was diagnosed on Monday. I was put on 1000 Amoxicillin three times a day and suppose to be getting some Zhang herbs he has to order either today or tomorrow since he wants to treat with both.
Only four days later, I have a low grade fever, aches all over, basically just feels flu like. You know...eyes burn, sort of ill feeling. Isn't this too low of a dose to even have anything happen yet?
I hadn't even started taking the Zhang stuff. It's honestly not bad and NOTHING compared to what many talk about with a herx but this is also an extremely low dose since he's doubling it next week.
So I have two questions. Is there anything I am suppose to be doing, other than bed soaking my bed with sweats and resting or should I be popping some kind of fever reducer.
And two, with the Zhang coming in, do I still go ahead and add that as the doctor said even on top of a herx?
I guess I should have asked my LLMD these types of questions, but I had just gotten the diagnosis and wasn't in question mode.
I am NOT concerned about this in any way and know there will be times I'll be calling the Dr., so don't want to bother him this soon over something so minor that I'm sure most of you already know.
This is NOT a bad herx, IF this is what it is. I mean I don't feel good, but atleast the pain doesn't have me in tears as I have been in the past.
I guess I wasn't planning to be sick only four days into treatment on such a LOW dose according to him.
I've read about herxes here, which makes me feel this could be one. I'm going to hop in a warm, not hot, but warm bath to settle down.
Any Herx 101 info for MINOR possible herxes the first time around would be welcomed.

My herx started next day; right arm felt like a punching bag and stayed that way for 20 months.
We're all different. I had a SEVERE herx while on lymenet 2-06; lymenetters tracked me down although they knew only my 1st name and state!!
Couple of people knew more about me, and TROUTSCOUT knew the most about me, and called Ames police dept. who knocked on my door making sure I was ok; your net friends were concerned about you!
Now I show my last name and city/state so if it happens again, some lymenetter WILL CALL local police and have them check up on me!!
Time is of the essence, so please make sure other folks know your vital info; phone no., city/state, last name, etc.
Others will come along; you will know a SEVERE HERX when it happens; I assure you!

My son gets a low grade fever and an exacerbation of his common symptoms which are headache, stomache ache, muscle ache, joint pains.
He has also developed new lyme symptoms such as sound sensitivity and neck stiffness which he didn't have before he was put on abx.
He had reaction 5 weeks after starting amoxil and again 5 weeks after starting zithromax. I have read on lymenet that sometimes each person has a fixed time after commencement of abx for developing these symptoms. My son had what we attributed to a herx lasting 3-4 weeks after starting a new antibiotic. Typically they seem to start several days after commencing an antibiotic and their duration is variable but everyone's experience is slightly different.
Actually 3000mg of amoxicillin is the maximum daily recommened dose in the British National Formularly. Just not a high dose for LLMDs.
Good luck and I hope it doesn't last too long. Chiz

Yes, as time progressed, it was obvious that this was and is a herx. I guess in my mind, I thought it would take longer.
Now I have to read up on Detoxing. Fun, Fun.

Cathy,
Burbur is a detox herb that some LLMDs are using to reduce herxes. I wouldn't suggest trying it without talking to your LLMD about it.
In general, because you are starting herbs, you would want to get the ok on any other supplement/herb in case there is an interaction.
