well after nearly 10 yeaRS of lyme sicne age 10 I am not sure if my abx are helping. Can chronic lyme be cured?
I am hoping to go back to the US and see an LLMD that can put me on IV for starters.Like rocephin I don't think the bicillin and biaxin are enough. I know its only been two months but i feel NOTHING> maybe rocephin will put me back on my feet and hit it hard ?
I am also hoping maybe to do alternatives -- right now cumanda has helped me a bit. other than that I feel miserable and hopeless. Just don't feel any better:( I am oping on finding a good natural doc as well.

please hang in there! My llmd says that many people with chronic lyme like you do not feel better with abx treatment until 4-5 months into treatment -- and this doctor has treated many many lyme patients.
I believe this to be true. I do not think 2 months is long enough to tell, sorry to say.
But by all means, keep going until you find a doctor that you are confident in. my main point here is that 2 months may be too soon to tell after having lyme for 10 years.....

I know it's not a good place. But, 2 months on abx is not that long.
I have had lyme for approx 13 years and just started to get treated in April 06.
Believe me, I have had my ups and downs.
My llmd said considering how long I've had it, it is really hard to say when it will be gone.
I do believe I will get better. I just went thru a couple of terrible months and now I am starting to feel better.
I just switched abx so hopefully that is doing the trick.
Give it time, don't ever give up, you will see a difference, I know it in my heart.
In the meantime, I am thinking of you and and keeping you in my prayers.

If you have had no response to treatment, are you possibly missing some coinfections like Babesia, Bartonella, mycoplasma, etc.?

Bicillin and Biaxian are Very good for Lyme-- You most likely have Babs Also from your symptoms-
When you get back to US you need to sign up with Bridges to Access- for mepron-- They will Give you mepron the same day--
Do you have any Bactrim ? It works Real Good For Babs-- If you have some you should take it--
You have been sick a long time- like me-- It took several months before I had noticable effects from the meds- I have gotten better You will too--Jay--

Just hang in there - fighting Lyme and or yeast is a very long process, and it takes tons of patience.
As you know I was on meds for 7/8 yrs straight - orals/IV's - I herxed every SINGLE day of my life then - some days worse then others. Some days feeling like I would die or wanted to die.
After I choose to stop meds in 1997 - I still Herxed every single day of my life for at least a yr - forgot what it felt like to feel normal again.
You must remember one thing thru all this - herxing is GOOD - feeling BAD is good - because that is how it gives you your life back eventually. Herxing as I understand it and understoood it - WAS and is those little buggers coming out of hiding from within your organs and being killed off.
If you remember that and know that this feeling is only temporary you will be ok and get thru, I promise.
You must go thru the bad to get to the good, and there are MANY that have been in your shoes and still are - but life does and or can come back, you are not alone, never forget that!

rocephin really helps some people it seems. and even quickly. i dont think its too great for co-infections though, or mycoplasma. i did a course of iv rocephin, and i might as well have been using water. if anything i got worse from the toxicity. rocephin is tough on this end, and will often over load the liver and cause gallstones if used long term. I also had an infections disease doctor then who kept insisting i was better after the rocephin iv, and that my symptoms were post lyme and would go away. i didnt do any treatment for a long time until i was really falling apart. iv doxy did help, but i feared it would be years of antibiotics to get some questionable improvement. i was completely dependant on antibiotics before. after 4 years of orals and a year of iv. i have made amazing progress naturally though, with what i believe are higher ways of healing.

But I can tell you she is herxing and is very very sick right now, I have talked to her many times lately via email and on the phone.
I'm sure she will post herself that she is herxing, but I guess I just wanted you to know because I knew!
It's s shame Canada has such different ideas and ways of treating ......"NOT" Lyme and or possibly other illness, as I thought they were better in the health field then the US is some ways if not alot of ways, I guess not.
And for a 19 yr old unable to work to support herself and get health coverage and so on - welllll it's even more of a shame - at this age these young adults are just starting there lifes in a way, you know and this has got to be so hard for her.
I was thinking that maybe you just need some extra help with detox. if you can get the toxin's out you will feel sooooo much better, even while herxing.
There are lots of suggestions on this site on what things are good to help with detox.

It took one full year before I felt ANY better at all. Sorry. I am doing great now.

Just so you know what to expect, many people who start with Rocephin herx very hard. So if you are looking to quickly get on your feet, Rocephin might knock you down further at first.
Many LLMD's will not start Rocephin until coinfections are treated. So be aware of that. You also want to research and be aware of the risks of Rocephin, as long-term use does often result in gallbladder problems.
Dr. B has said he likes patients to give every abx 3 months minimum. So that gives you another month.
Unfortunately, Lyme is a tortoise thing. Slow and steady. If you rush too far ahead in treatment, you can end up losing.
