sorry, i'm braindead, i meant to phrase that in the form of a question, as in i mean: should i be worried about eye pain from inside the eye (not the outside like when something stings)?

Hi danielb,

I can understand your concern, it would worry me too.

Lyme can effect the eyes as well as co-infections.
I think getting the eyes checked out by an lyme literate eye doctor is very important.

I would let your LLMD know what is happening with your eyes okay? There is probably someone he/she recommends. I would not ignore your symptoms.

I hope your eye pain goes away, and everything checks out for you okay.

I have eye pain "from the inside," as you describe it, as well. I describe it as somebody trying to scoop out my eyeball with a spoon. Your way is much nicer!

This has been one of my symptoms for about 6 months now.

Have you experienced any vision changes? I've read that this pain combined with a sudden increase in floaters, flashers, etc. could mean something very serious.

More likely, this could be a herx reaction from the new abx; new symptoms can be part of a herx, from what I understand.

I agree with Beverly; give your LLMD a call and let him/her know what's up.

Good luck!

Hi danielb,

I have eye pain too! Inside pain-pressure-Your in good company, I also know of someone else with the same... it's probably a herx or just another one of those "things" that we feel easier now, or do I mean notice ?

I'm finding sooo many things coming back so to speak that I just easily brushed aside over the years!

The positive is that they aren't as Bad or as Long of Things!

To me it's a sign that the combo of whatever it may be we are taking is working!

Hang in there and talk to your doctor. [Smile]

My daughter has that feeling on an almost daily basis. She describes it as a rod behind her eyes trying to push them out.

Or, when I read her this thread, she said it feels like there are bolts in her eyes, hooked to a chain, pulled by a truck.

It's all part of the disease. She has bartonella, big time. So, you may have awakened a sleeping giant.

Still, always good to pass it by the doc.

I HAVE LYME SINCE 1991..HAVENT BEEN TREATED. MY EYES DOESNT DILATE AT ALL..THE LIGHT MAKES MY PUPIL CLOSE AND IT LOOKS LIKE IM LOOKING THROUGH THE HOLE OF A PIPE..OR THE PEEP HOLE OF DOOR, MY VISION IS BLUR AND FEELS AT TIMES LIKE THE SHADES COMING DOWN. MY EYES CANT STAY STEADY WHILE READING..MY EYE DOCTOR SAID THAT THE VISION PART IN MY BRAIN HAS BEEN DAMAGED DUE TO THE STROKE THE NO DILATION WITH NOR WITH OUT LIGHT ON MY RIGHT EYE. THE LEFT EYE DILATION IS MINIMUM REACTIVE TO LIGHT..BUT I CAN SEE MUCH CLEAR WITH LESS LIGHT..THE REASON OF NOT BEEN TREATED AS OF YET..MY DOCTOR DEMANDS SPINAL TAP..DUE TO I HAD BEEN INFECTED FOR TOO LONG..AND THE POSSIBILITY I MAY HAVE SPINAL MENINGITIS. PLUS 8 TO 10 MONTH IN THE HOSPITAL WITH IV. I WAS DIAGNOSED DURING A STROKE I HAD IN 2002 WITH LYME DISEASE. ALL THE TIMES IVE BEEN HAVING SEIZURES, FEVER, SWELLING ON THE FACE, CHOKING ON MY OWN SALIVA, MY LEGS TURNING PURPLE..AND MY EYES ROLLING UP BY IT SELF..I WAS HAVING MINI STROKES. THEY BRUSHED IT OFF AS THE FLU WITH SEVERE FEVER. I WAS TESTED FOR HERPES, EVERYTHING CAME OUT NEGATIVE, THEN FOR DIABETES, NEGATIVE, THEN FOR THE ANTIBODIES AND CELL OOF HIV, ALL NEGATIVE BUT IT SHOWED ON DNA THAT I HAD A VIRUS..AND THATS WHERE THE DOCTOR FOUND THE ANTIBODY TO B. BURGDORFERI FOR LYME DISEASE. THROUGHT THE HIV TESTING THEY FOUND THE ANTIBODY OF B..THEN THEY CONTINUE TO DO THE TEST FOR LYME..WHICH CAME OUT REACTIVE..POSSITIVE..BY NOW, I HAVE MY RIGHT FACE PALSY ALONG WITH THE EYE, NO SENSE OF FEELING OF MY SKIN, ALL MY RIGHT SIDE IS MINIMUM STRENGTH AND OFF BALANCE. MY RIGHT EYE IS SLOW INTO FOCUS AFTER EVERY BLINK..AT TIME LOOKS LIKE THE SHADES IS COMING DOWN OR MY EYE LIDS IS CLOSING..SILVERY SPOTS WHEN ALOT OF LIGHT OR SUN..I HAVE TO WEAR SUN GLASSES TO GO OUT SIDE, MY EYES HAD BECOME SENSITIVE TO LIGHT, AND INDUCES SEIZURES..FEELS LIKE MY BRAINS IS POPPING AND FIRE WORKS GOING OFF IN FRONT OF MY EYES. BUT MY VISION SUPPOSED TO BE 23/23 AT NIGHT I CAN SEE VERY CLEAR AND FAR. LESS LIGHT TO THE EYES WOULD HELP TO MINIMIZE THE PAINS OF THE EYES. SUN GLASSES HAD HELP WITH FEELING OF THE PRESSURE FROM INSIDE THE EYES..LESS STRAINING.

I've had many different eye problems over the last 7 years of treatment. My script on contact lenses has changed from 1-3 times yearly.

Just Tues when I went to the eye doctor for blurry vision again, I was surprised by my new eye that replaced the old guy. She knows lyme disease well. Very well. Her mother, father and many family members have dealt with lyme. Herself included.

She thought that it made more sense that there was something else going on with my vision other than true vision changes. She said lyme causes inflammation in the eyes, which explains, pain, dry eye, blurry, etc.

She's treating my eyes for inflammation with drops and she seems to think that my vision will change again within a few weeks for the better and maintain itself instead of changing.

She says treatment will be needed for months, because if we stop it to soon it will be a failure. Remind you of anything else about lyme?

It is so great to have someone that truly understands this illness caring for my eyes. After all lyme can cause someone to become blind. Pretty frightening sx of a dreadful illness.

Pam
