ok...so i am a chronic lymie at 22 years old. obviously i have no money, i am in college and

finally just recieved medicaid this month after relapsing/reienfection back in june.

i only have a PCP and she believes that my lyme was "cured" with one month treatment and all other symptoms that i continue to have are not lyme

related..."there in my head cause im depressed and a hypocondriac and therefore i need to be put on anti depressent and anti aniexty meds" and refuses to consider that i still have an infection and wont give me any type of antibotics..

i am getting scared because it has been since october that i was last treated with antibotics.

i am slowly starting to have my old symptoms back plus new ones..

including...NOW THIS IS WHAT I NEED HELP ON..DOCDAVE..ANYONE...

i have a tooth that is infected i believe. top left 2nd one for the last. it has a hole in it and has been getting worse over the last couple of weeks.

i also have been told that i have TMJ by a dentist and did a full xray last week of my jaw ( had to go to an emergency checkup) cause my jaw (the muscles down from the joint and up to the joint)

were swelling ..causing ALOT OF PRESSURE AND PAIN
my jaw was also popping and constantly wanting to close. so i thought it was my wisdom teeth..

the dentist said my wisdom teeth are coming in but thats not what causing the muscles to tighten around the joint and down..

he also said that tooth( that has the hole) might need a root canal cause he sees that it my have decayed down to the nerve..

i just dont know what is going on in my mouth..all i know is im in some SERIOUS PAIN.. and im in college and this is just all tooooo much.

im am currently taking tegertol, klonopin, ibprophen, percocet(will run out today) and lorazapam, and sometime baclofin.. for this pain and sometimes it doesnt even work...

i havent slept i full 8 hr in 3 weeks i have dark circles under my eyes..

also i dont know if its related but...
i have small white bumps that form in my mouth since all this and hurt real bad..

i also have these small little bumps on my back and shoulders that appear like tiny pimples but when i scratch them off they bleed.

im scared because both of which came on in august when i started getting REALLY SICK and needing to go to the ER 3 times a week..

also my eyes are puffy and extremely tired looking and it appears that there is some sort of chapped skin under in the dark circles, and heavy bags as well.

plus i woke up with a fever of 99.5 today and usually my temp is only 97.ish..which it was last night...

WHATS GOING ON WITH ME???
anyone know if there is any form of dental insurance that i can get from medicaid or the government??

what should i do about my teeth? and is the lyme related or coinfections possibly..

i havent been tested or treated for babs...but i really believe i have it..but my PCP wont take me seriously.. i dont know what to do

HELP!!!

THANKS SO MUCH,
LONNA

Hope,

When I was in college and had very little money, I went to the city hospital, which did have a dental clinic run by the interns. It was much less costly. You might check into this.

I am very sorry you are going through this. A tooth infection on top of LD bugs cannot help. Take care of the tooth issue ASAP and then see what is left afterwards. Perhaps some of those symptoms you describe will go away. Then see about switching to an LLMD, somehow.

Hopefully docdave will be along soon to help. To get his attention, you might edit your post by including something about a dental issue.

Best wishes,

Claire

Two problems:

1. possible continuing or relapsing infection. What do you think? Check out the lyme symptoms lists for review. If you think there is relapse, then you would need to find a md who will not discount your symptoms.

a,Try the Pa. support group for md's around Pittsburgh.
b.Try Va support group for possible llmd in the Western part of Va.
c. Try an herbal protocol : Buhner

2. Root canals:
a. Hot topic! Pro's and con's on having RC and
having tooth extracted, have been discussed. Must take into consideration your immune status. Also, perhaps there is a tooth based systemic infection.

I had this decision to make, and in reading about people's experiences here, I realized that there was no single answer to the "should/should not" question. Plus, others, resolution to whatever decision they chose, were varied.

The tmj seems to be a common thing in tension, and a body fighting lyme, a person being in college, and also having dental pain/infection, all are stressors.

Can you get ahold of your previous lyme doctor? How long were you in treatment? Will dentist prescribe an abx for tooth infection?

Garlic juice is effective and readily available, so are Buhner's herbs.

To me, it seems herbs are at least as effective as abx. See the following link

hope4better,

Tmj could totally be Lyme related. Print out the Ilads latest gudelines and ask your doc to read it. If he /she won't educate themselves and become lyme literate they asre not secure enough in thier own medicine to beleive that there is new information concerning a disease out there.

Find your self a llmd and have some one manage your care who knows the score.

I completely understand the insomnia component and it can be one of the worst. You will not get better until you can sleep [Frown]

Once you find an llmd that you relate well with a lot of your problems will be better managed and life will be livable again,

Maybe one of the gurus on this site can private message you with a refferal to a good llmd in your area, although for a lot of us it means going out of state.

Beg,borrow, or steal(not really) as the saying goes the money to see an llmd. [Eek!]

I wish you the best and I know one of the gurus will be able to give you some direction. You are not alone [group hug] .

Take care ,

Travlr1
