I have been taking Cymbalta for burning nerve pain for 5 days now (30 mg) and no relief so far. If you have gotten help from it, how long did you take it before it helped?
Thanks!

I tried it for 5 weeks. The first couple it helped then the pain was right back. It didn't do a thing for the numbness and tingling. The side-effects were bad..severe nausea. Basically, it didn't do a thing for me except give me side-effects.....

I had nerve pain that would radiate down my legs at night, keeping me from sleep.
Cymbalta helped within a week of starting it. It was a very effective medication in my case.
If I missed two days of taking it the nerve pain would come back.
I didn't have 'burning' pain as you descrbe your pain, mine was just a very deep, radiating pain which was different from my usual muscle and joint pain.
I also notice that cymbalta doesen't seem to help me much with my other pains -- seemed to help with just the nerve type pain.
I've since went off of cymbalta (mostly because of the expense) and I am finding that the withdrawal effects are pretty harsh.
Hope your pain subsides.

I've been on Cymbalta for about 3 mths now. I'm taking 30mg 2 times a day. My prescribing doctor just told me last week that Cymbalta doesn't seem to help with pain until patients are doing about 120mg daily.
60mg daily has really helped my depression, raised my body temperature and muscle aches. I used to wear layers of clothing trying to stay warm. Not anymore.
I'm going to slowly up my dosage this week and see how I react. I won't be satisfied until every last sx is under control. I've made progress in the last two years, but I want to feel healthy again.
