A lab tech I spoke with today mentioned that the white matter lesions seen on brain MRI's and the MS presentation were more often a result of babesia than Lyme. Not sure if this is true or not.

Please sign in.

Do you have brain lesions on your MRI -- yes or no.

Do you have babesia -- yes or no.

-----------------------------------------------

Hubby's answers -- yes and yes.

Bea Seibert

Note: The MRI report might use other terminology such as "areas of increased signal focus", or "hyperintense focal areas" or even "focal areas of nonspecific T2 prolongation within the periventricular and subcortical white matter" (hubby's most recent MRI).

No lesions on brain MRI. Scan done after several years of untreated babesia. So, it had plenty of time to do the damage if it was going to.

Yes to multiple brain lesions.

Mixed test results to Babesia, but including one Equivocal. Have lots of petechia which might be Babs. Haven't treated it yet.

The radiologist who read my brain MRI told my internist that I either had Lyme Disease or encephalitis. Kind of surprising he even said that given that no one in San Diego seems to have experience with tick-borne diseases.

Yes to lesions
Yes to Babs but did not have a positive test (Our area seems to be plagued with types that can't be tested for)
Anyone feel Babs treatment drained sinuses, ears, and brain of fluids that might have been there years? (New topic?) Good post/poll Bea!
