Since I got lyme, my weight has ballooned up over 190. Since I'm 5 feet, I am wider than I am tall!! I used to weigh about 125 and looked really good. Now I am very, very discouraged.

Am doing the diet and trying to deal with yeast and all.

Am curious tho, since I keep reading about people loosing weight.

So do some loose and some gain, kind of like we're all different again, right?

And, yes, ROUND is a shape!!!

My understanding is that some people do gain quite a bit of weight and others loose.

In my case, I put on 30 pounds I couldnt take off for the life of me. This was pre-Lyme. But as soon as I started Lyme treatment, the weight really came off.

I lost all the weight I'd gained. But I have friends who experienced just the opposite.

What's typical, I think, are weight fluxuations.

I have lost 60lbs since in the last 3 years (the last 2 years being on abx). But.... I began a anti-yeast diet a year before I started on abx, and lost about 40lbs in that year. during the next 2 years I lost the additional 20lbs. Which of course was alot slower on abx.

But I am also continuing to loose weight but just at a slower pace. I also needed to loose the weight, and probably another 30lbs worth. Right now I am still loosing weight at about 10lbs a year. (A snails pace [Roll Eyes] )

I've lost weight. Probably ten pounds. I am down to 100 lbs. My doctor is concerned. I think it is because my Lyme's started in my stomach and still predominately resonates from there. I also eat such a strict yeast free diet, I think it keeps the weight off. I get tired of people commenting on my weight all the time. People seem to focus on it a little too much.

Meds probably play a huge role in the weight as well. I know that when I was on Doxy I was hungry all the time.

Some how, only by a miracle I am sure of it, i weigh 106lbs now.......I was on an anti viral, hormone supliment to induce a period and gained 10lbs overnite.....not sure what did it. Then i went on amoxy and sustained the weight.

The lyme killed my thyroid and with no ability to move without hurting myself one way or another, I've gained 50 pounds.

I've tried diets, including Atkins, with no luck.

My doc even gave me extra T3 thyroid in addition to the T4 to see if that might help, but no change. [Frown]

My daughter was a petite 98 pounder, then put on 80 within 5-6 months. The doctors thought she was just eating too much.

IDIOTS!!!!

She is following the anti-yeast diet for the most part. Mostly because she now can't tolerate anything sweet or carbed. She has lost 45 since November.

I'm making new clothes for her. It's still hard for her to get out and try on clothes.

She still looks puffy, though, like her body is in a constant allergic reaction.

I've lost 16 pounds since Sept of last year.

I am 5'7 and now weigh 111 lbs.

My husband said that I was getting too skinny.

I told him that I am not trying to lose weight, but have to watch my diet due to yeast.

I will be the first to admit that giving up my 5-6 cokes a day probably contributed to this loss.

Actually, I only weighed 106 when I got pregnant with my first child.

Hopefully wont be losing too much more.

Hugs,

Geneal

I gained 30 pounds in 4 months (right after my tick bite) and another 15 pounds in the last 2 years since starting treatment.

I went to my internist after I had gained 30 pounds in 4 months (which would be nearly impossible to do just from eating...if you think about it), and all the doc told me was that he would not prescribe any weight loss drugs. Oh...and I should be sure that I have a good friend to confide in. 'Cause that apparently helps your thyroid function how?????

I gained about 30 (and I've never gained any weight at all in my entire adult life) while sick.

It started coming off on it's own around the same time as my sleeping patterns started to become more normal- not related reasons, but my Lyme is definitely going away. I'm not really exercising much more than normal (I try to bike to errands occasionally but don't really go out exercising, and I'd managed to do that some months while sick, too) so the weight loss seems related to some kind of thyroid/metabolism issue from the Lyme rather than just me becoming more active as I get healthier.

I was perfect weight for my height when I got sick.

I gained 46 lbs. in the first two months, which would be impossible from eating, even if I ate all day long. It has to be a metabolism problem.

My hair was also falling out and my limbs going to sleep and tingling. My thyroid was under attack, but they refused to treat it, with a TSH of 4.2. That was 21 yrs. ago.

Now days they treat any TSH over 3.04, or over 2.0, if thyroid problems or depression run in your family. I am on Armour Thyroid and have a TSH of 1.33 now.

Still, I have gained another 20 lbs. from drugs I've been given that slow metabolism, ie. Inderal, and drugs that raise estrogen during menopause, and tricyclic anti-depressants to help with sleep, which really piled the weight on, so I stopped taking them all.

Recently, I got severe gastritis, duodenitis and esophagitis, and I've lost 25 lbs. in the last 7 weeks from semi-starvation as a result. I hope I can keep it off, so something good comes of this misery.

I empathize with your problem,
Klutzo
