What specialty is he? Who tells you he is "lyme literate?"
I wish you luck. Some doctors can be educated; most are too dead-set against lyme to bother reading.
It's worth a try. But don't be discouraged if you hear the same old song and dance.
Refuse further testing unless it's a western blot from IGeneX. WITHOUT the preliminary ELISA that's usually worthless. If he insists, show him the data on the ELISA. And remember that IGeneX will run an ELISA if asked, but only in conjunction with a western blot.
Hopefully it's way past time for testing you and time to start TREATING you!!

I have been told by someone here that he treats lyme. In addition, I was told by someone while I was shopping (great source, I know) However, I asked questions and they did spout out all of the ways to treat lyme, iv, oral etc. That is more than I have had so far.
I am going home first to get my western blot, I am taking my positive western blot, my negative elisa, all of my mri's scans and most importantly the placed I visited when this started. No, WV is not covered in Lyme but I traveled not just places but ball fields with high grass in extremely wooded area where Lyme is prevalent.
I am getting my hopes up. I know I should not but I am.
If not, then I guess I will go to Dr. S in PA>

A former coworker told me her husband had Lyme and they were going to a great doctor willing to treat lyme-and he was in network!!!!!
I told her I was going to an LLMD and willing to pay out of pocket for her expertise.
Several months later she asked me for the name of my LLMD since this well meaning , well intentioned doctor they were going to in network really didn't seem to know what he was doing.
Trust me- at the time I doubted my decision to go to a real LLMD it was so expensive, and considered going to this other doctor who supposedly was "open to treating lyme". Now I'm glad I stuck with my instinct to stay with LLMD.
