I have Chlamydia Pnemoniae (not the sexual bug, the respitory one), CFIDS (HHV-6, CMV, EBVi, Mycoplasma Pneumonaie infections and Lyme. Have been on Ziththromax since November (250mg 2x week) and just started Doxyi about 4 weeks ago (200mg MWF). Having mild herxes now (neuro fog and episodes of weakness, some arthritic pain). 2 weeks ago had a scary episode while eating dinner. Had a glass of wine and some food and then suddenly weak, flip flop in chest area, thin, fast pulse, extreme nausea, SOB and felt like angina. Passed after about 20mins. Then again about 5 days later. Came home from Gym (have started to exercise again) and had sudden mild SOB after eating, agitation, sense of doom, weird heart rhythm, BP was up to 150/92 from normal 130/80. Calmed down after about 20 mins. Then this morning (several days later) I had some coffee and a muffin and suddenly felt strange, mild nausea, pulse seemed to really slow down, felt SOB, then erratic, fast pulse, then pressure on left heart area in chest, felt like angina. Took spray nitro (given to me years ago when I had this) and it went away immediately. Went to ER and had a normal ECG (It had passed by then), troponin and blood tests were normal and they released me because I had a normal nuclear stress test at same hospital in August. These feel like coronary artery spasms, but can't get an ECG on me in time to diagnose. I also had a negative angiogram 9yrs ago. I am male and in my thirties. Not sure what this is. I get irregular heartbeats alot but have for many years and attribute them to inflammationi in the vagal area as they are related to swallowing and positional. Herx from inflammation in the heart area? Don't know what to do when this happens. Run to hospital, take nitro, what? Dr's are going to think I'm nuts. Any help or thoughts would be appreaciated. Thanks Chris

You should talk to your doc about your Lyme's meds. Sometimes they can cause irregular heartbeats. I know that I sometimes get heartburn, and irregular heartbeats and feel like I am going to die. This usually happens in the evening time for me. Also, I have extreme food sensitivities. I cannot drink alchohol or drink caffeine, as this will really screw me up with inflammation, heartbeat, reflux, etc. Are you taking a full glass of water with your doxy? This can also cause chest pains with me if I don't drink enough water. Be well~

Something similar to this happens to me. Before I had gotten any treatment for Lyme, this was so bad a duck put me on atenolol because my heart rate was so high, but he didn't know what was causing the flip-flop feeling.

It happened to me again last night (I'm currently not on any ABX due to not being able to find a doctor to treat me.) But it only lasted a few seconds, and I'm not even sure that my heart rate was affected.

It was right below my sternum, in the middle of my chest and felt just like when a baby moved during pregnancy, only higher.

Guess you don't know what that feels like first-hand [lol] .

I don't know that it's actually in my heart, because it's coming from the wrong location.

I think it can be from spasms in the esophogus, which may explain why it happens after eating, OR you may be right about it coming from the vagus nerve.

It doesn't happen to me after I drink coffee, but red wine does seem to make my heart pound, so I don't drink it (or anything else alcoholic) very often. And I really like wine with food. Heavy sigh, maybe someday again. . .

But I know what you're saying--it seems to effect the heart, but it may not actually BE the heart.

I have irregular and rapid heart beat that does cause chest pain at times. They did a stress test and wound up doing a heart cathe only to tell me they didn't find anything it was all a waste of time. I still have the problem and have to take Rx to try and control it
