ON Forbes.com!!!!! You know that commercial where the woman yells I LOVE THIS MAN!!!!!!! After he gives her a diamond>? That's how I felt after reading this letter!!!!! ******************************************
Ticked Off
" Lyme Inc." (Mar. 12) unfairly linked my investigation into the Infectious Diseases Society of America's (IDSA) Lyme disease guidelines to disciplinary proceedings against a small group of Lyme disease specialists. These cases played no role in my decision to launch this investigation. Your implication that the true purpose of my investigation is to shield doctors from sanction was untrue and irresponsible.
My investigation seeks to assure that all scientific and medical facts were and are considered in their formulation. My office launched the investigation after receiving complaints from medical experts and patients alleging that the IDSA excluded or ignored certain information, resulting in flawed guidelines. I have a legal obligation to investigate these serious allegations, including possible antitrust violations that would arise if insurers or others improperly influenced the process by excluding competing views and information for their economic benefit. Lyme disease is a persistent and prevalent medical problem in Connecticut. My office has a duty to ensure that the thousands of state residents stricken with this sometimes crippling disease receive the most medically effective treatment.

Wonderful! We need more public officials to conduct themselves the way Mr. Blumenthal does regarding this health plague.

my thank you to ag blumenthal.....
hi Richard,
i want to thank YOU so much for your rebuttal letter you sent to FORBES magazine/writer for their irresponsible and shoddy reporting on chronic lyme disease.
thank you for stating why you filed antitrust claim against IDSA on behalf of ALL US CHRONIC LYMIES nationwide!
Yes, many injustices were done by IDSA docs not including the ILADS docs who treat us longer than 30 days.
lyme disease is NOT affordable now since majority of us ALL pay OUT of pocket with no insurance reimbursements plus our RX meds, supplements, herbs, body lab testings, or other alternate methods.
I have a great deal of respect for you butting heads with them to get JUSTICE done. you are right up there with IOWA'S OWN AG TOM MILLER, who i have deep respect for after taking on the tobacco industries years ago .
Richard, we look forward to the outcome of your investigation and hopefully, that many costs CAN BE REIMBURSED by our expensive health insurance we pay monthly! THANK YOU RICHARD!

Here is my response to the attorney general. I feel it is important that we address public officials with respect and formality, not on a first name basis, unless we personally know them.
Mr. Blumenthal:
I want to thank you for all you are doing for Lyme patients. We really appreciate the effort you are making to investigate the IDSA guidelines and the effects they are having on Lyme Disease patients.
As a Chronic Lyme Disease patient who went over 40 years without a diagnosis, I am very aware of how important it is for us to receive the proper treatment, for the required length of time, not based on simple guidelines that ignore much of the research into the disease.
Thanks also for the letter you recently wrote to Forbes magazine about their misguided report of your investigation. While I am not a Connecticut resident, I know that your investigation will have far- reaching effects for all Lyme patients.
Thanks again,
