I wondered about an increased in pain on the side of your body that had the tick bite.I had the bite on my right thigh. Now I am experiencing joint pain in my right knee, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip.

It rotates to different joints, but only on the right side.I also have 1 enlarged lymph gland under my arm on the right side. And pain in the inguinal gland area on the right side.

My neurologist couldn't say anything about it. He is ready to diagnose me with MS because of brain lesion. But it is my first and only lesion.

I have read research that sometimes the first symptom is a brain lesion (internuclear opthalmoplegia)for Lyme. He is referring me to infectious disease. But I have found an LLMD that I will make appt.

He said there are so many viruses going around that maybe it is just a virus.I think it is weird how I have this joint pain ONLY on the side of my bite, almost exactly 2 months after my brain lesion.

It is very common to have more symptoms near the bite.

Head bites or neck bites are associated with more neuro symptoms, too. (Sorry, don't have a citation on that but I've read it.)

I can already promise you what your ID duck will tell you. All you have to do is read the new IDSA guidelines. In a nutshell, there is no such thing as chronic lyme. If you ever had it, which is doubtful, a short course of treatment and it's cured. Any lingering symptoms must mean you're a drunk, or you should see a shrink.

(Yeah, you probably think this girl is nuts! But with a couple exceptions most ID ducks follow their society's guidelines.

Before I laid out a ton of money, and considering you already had a positive test, I'd hold up on all those appointments until I saw an LLMD, got some really good testing for lyme and co-infections, and then revisit the other doctors later if you feel in doubt.

The more you learn, the more you'll see how LITTLE the ID ducks/MS specialists know.

A virus, pssshhaw!!

It's a bacteria.

(And who knows what else, since you weren't tested for co-infections.)

If any of these ducks were smart, don't you think that would occur to them? It didn't occur to MY neurologist despite my adamant suggestions. He downplayed it, essentially ridiculing me for suggesting such a far-fetched notion.

Nah.

They'll think of every test under the sun OTHER THAN the obvious ones for tickborne disease.

Don't let them discourage you from seeking a REAL diagnosis!!

Dear Pharmgirl,

I don't think it is uncommon to symptoms to be more "one-sided".

I don't recall a tick bite or a rash, however the majority of my pain in joints is on my right side.

Right hip, right ribs, right fingers, right knee, etc.

That is not to say that I don't get pain on the left side, it just seems to favor my right.

Save your money, time and a great deal of frustration and possible confusion......by pass that ID appt.

I initially made an appt. with an ID, then found this site, found a LLMD and cancelled that appt. with ID so fast I could not believe there wasn't smoke coming from the phone!

You sound like you know where you are going and what to do.

Hang in there. We are always here if you need us.

Hugs,

Geneal

I too have more problems with the right side where I have my bullseye bruise. Lot more stabbing pains in my right lower leg and my right arm. Glad to know that is not unusual.
After 9 months of searching I finally found a LLMD in Indiana and contacted him yesterday. I faxed paperwork and am waiting to see if he will accept me. Good luck to you!
