After 7 months of heavy abx, my LLMD suggested I stop, and reassess in a month. At this point I do feel some sx are side effects from the abx. Plus, I've lost too much weight.

My main concern now is babs. I tested positive for it in sept. Did 3 weeks of mepron, followed by 3 rounds (3 weeks on, 1 off) of art. I just now finished 4 weeks of malarone because I was still having night sweats.

Anyone "beat" babs after 1 or 2 rounds? I caught it relatively early (bit in June, sx started in august).

How do you really know when this is gone vs. side effects?

I need a break from abx, but I need to know the bugs are gone. My last babs titer was neg, but I hear not so reliable

That was not enough rounds for me on the babs. It took more rounds than I can count. However, I didn't find out about art until I had done a yr or two of clindamycin/quinine.

Once I added the art, the babs left. Now, that is not to say that clindy/Q did nothing, but does tell me that art is pretty good stuff.

I would go for two or three more rounds of mepron, at the very least. Just my non-medical opinion.

I took a malaria cure for babesia that worked. But then again, I caught the mystery bug in a swampy tourist beach town, filled with travelers, so maybe it was really malaria all along.

Three rounds of chloroquine + artemisinin followed by primaquine.

It's the standard cure for plasmodium vivax and plasmodium ovale.

Check on Google for dosages. You have to be careful with these, as they are different from antibiotics, and you have to take them exactly as prescribed.
