Specifically the FIR models like the one on Scott's site. Do they make you sweat, do they work as well(or close) as the wood models?

I found a portable sauna at www.nationalpoolwholesalers.com When you go to the homepage, look at the left side and it will list saunas.
We got the $300 vinyl. My daughter puts it on high for 30 minutes. She sweats. We had an issue with the heating element not getting hot after about a year's use. It has a lifetime warranty, so it was replaced.
It would be nice to have a permanent wood model, but we don't have the finances or the room at this time. I wouldn't hesitate to get the portable.
If you are taller than 5'4", you may want the larger size. My daughter is 5' and the smaller one works for her.
