I've been off abx, and malarone in particular for almost 2 weeks now. The first week I felt awful-a little better this week, but today, I feel like I am herxing-dizzy, tired and stomach problems.
Anyone else feel worse when first coming off meds/malarone?

I've been treated for babs and lyme for over four years. I've had every treatment known. For babs, I amaze doctors with the degree to which they have NOT been able to cure me.
Coming off babs meds......
I might go a few days coasting along, and then it happens. I close my eyes to go to sleep and the sweats hit me immediately.
And then there is the feeling of being drugged and unable to even lift my head.
Yes, I know right away when I'm loosing ground on babs.
Lyme relaspe is pain all day long, plain and simple. I've only been able to go off of lyme meds for maybe four days at a time, and I really take a week at least to get back to the same level again.
Hope that helps....in some way.
Best of luck to you.

hi shoney-
i went off abx about 3 weeks ago. can't keep track of time very well, but that's a guess.
i had been on malarone for a long while- at least 6-8 months. other scripts that i took with malarone included mino then zith, and plaquanil last of all.
over these 3 weeks i have felt better in some ways worse in others, but overall, definitely not worse than when i was on on the abx combo, and maybe an inch ahead of the game.
there was a time about 2 or 3 months ago when i was taking just mino and malarone, that i felt so sick i didn't want to do another day of tx and did not. stopped for 2-3 days and felt even worse. much worse. so chickened out and went back to the mino, then to the malarone a few days later.
i don't know what accounts for the differnence between those 2 times. maybe i made headway with babesia from taking zith? or maybe i was in the middle of a bad herx those months ago?
there just is no telling, and as you know, our paths are all different enough to make it difficult to make comparisons.
it is a long long journey. there is room and time to readjust strategies...
take care of yourself and trust your instincts.... dilly
