I have a question for Marnie, I have posted to her, and I have tried to go through back channels but she's not taking PMs.

Marnie....are you out there?

I dunno. A thread I posted was on top a few times and I bumped it twice....but no word. I haven't checked recent posts, but I will again.

She hasn't been here since the 2nd and her posts were getting a bit spread out before that sometimes. Not taking PMs either, so hope everything is ok and she is just on vacation or doing something really fun.

I live in FLORIDA...so...all the snow bound (isn't this weather unbelievable?) and freezing relatives appear at my doorstep this time of year.

;-)

My daughter and 3 year old grandaughter are visiting.

Beach, dolphin cruise, shopping, pool time, playground...

Busy busy.

Daughter is using our study (with hide a bed) for her bedroom. Guest room goes to the little princess. My computer is located in the study , so I haven't had much time to be researching (although I have done a few hours worth) or post.

I will warn you in a few weeks we are going up north for about 10 days to scout out our next "move", so I will be offline then too.

We are planning to be "half backs". Move half-way back up north to SC or NC.

We originally lived in Illinois. Florida has been fun for 7 years, but we're ready to go back to the change of seasons.

The exodus from this state now outnumbers those moving here for multiple reasons.

Back to lyme and other diseases...

About a year ago, a LOT of research was being done re: melatonin (a very powerful anti-oxidant). Now there is a lot of research underway re: the PDE4 inhibitors.

Both look to be important (besides Mg and B vits ;-).

The anti-oxidants (all of them AND the anti-oxidant enzymes ie., SOD by Solaray) as well as INhibiting PDE4 appear to be critical because ultimately, this looks to put the brakes on PFK1. PFK = Phosphofructokinase. Bb is "PFK dependent".

While we need glycogen (!)- so do many pathogens this gets tricky...so apply the brakes SLOWLY. When PFK drops, this can -> anemia. It is also hard on the kidneys.

Complex carbs are okay and are needed. They do not trigger insulin which ACTIVATES PFK.

What we need to avoid is insulin SPIKES.

Aging and disease both -> oxidative damage. The antioxidants and anti-oxidant enzymes are vital.

While we NEED oxygen to survive, the "free radicals" (that happen as a result of our using oxygen to make ATP), are very, very damaging.

It appears we need to focus on INactivating PFK1 (halting the glycolysis pathway via inhibiting PDE4) as well as preventing an accumulation of lactic acid.

I'm working on the lactic acid angle.

"Haemoglobin-based oxygen carriers (HBOCs) are anticipated to be safe and efficient alternatives to RBC transfusions.

Haemoglobin (Hb) raffimer (Hemolink; Hemosol, Toronto, ON, Canada) is polymerized human Hb, cross-linked with o-raffinose."

Why....

http://www.ajtmh.org/cgi/reprint/60/2/322.pdf

Because:

"Therefore, it is likely that a combination
of both hypoxemia from microvascular obstruction

and TNF/NO

inhibition of the mitochondrial electron transport chain

results in

a shift of the equilibrium from conversion
of pyruvate to acetyl CoA towards lactic acid."

Or...can we employ an artificial oxygen carrier...PFC???
(Perfluorocarbon)

Some of you might remember an article a year or so ago, where PFCs were given to a preemie - very early birth and she now (at age 12) is completely normal.

???

Very interesting!

Thanks Marnie.

I too had house guests over the holidays and I am just now getting back to the forum... but I'm up too late again! Arg.
