I've been on antiibiotics since July and have hit a brick wall and seem to be worse now instead of better but in a different way.

My llmd thought it's babs rearing it's ugly head now. I tested negative on all coinfections from Igenex, but we figured it's because I got this in Germany and the strain doesn't show up on tests here.

My question is: Can you have babs without the sweats?I don'thave, never have had night sweats.

Anyone out there who tested positive for babs, but didn't have the sweats?

I have anxiety now which seems different from anxiety during earlier herxes and am hyper impatient with everyone. It's exhausting to act like I'm a normal person when carrying on a conversation. Can't seem to enjoy anything and ache more.

It's all lyme-like but different.

Want to be on an island all by myself!

What are your other symptoms?

I found that many of what I thought were babs symtpoms were really bart.

Hi,

I have tested positive for babs; had the night sweats for years before finding out about lyme and babs.

I too, have anxiety, but have not tried any medications for that. I feel like everything and everybody is on my nerves too. I too could be left on an island also. Want to go!!

I have been treated for lyme for 8 months and 4 months for babs but I still feel anxious and depressed.

My symptoms have gotten better; ie sweats, pain, neck pain, back pain, feet pain, dizziness, feeling like I am drunk, however, I am still depressed.

I don't think you need alot of the symptoms on the babs list to have babs like sweats. I had them but I don't think that matters.

I just say it takes time to get better; thats what I hold on to. If my pains have improved and other symptoms too, then I am hoping anxiety and depression will someday lift. I don't want to try medicine yet because how do I know when I am better? But I am getting down to my last hope and have thought about getting help.

were you better at all first before worse?

do you know for sure you contracted lyme etc. in Germany?

i'm curious in part because there is some small possibility i was bitten in Vienna, Austria. (

but supposedly, NO test available in the US can detect European "strains".

Both my sons have babs and bart but they have not tested positive for either on Igenex or MDL. They were ART tested and show both these infections...... which based on symptoms..... they were going to get treated for anyway.

Neither had sweats.

I didn't really have night sweats....just chills at times. It's sort of like Lyme; not everyone has arthritis.

The following signs/symptoms may be present in those infected with Babesiosis:
Fatigue*
Arthralgias*
Myalgia*
Drenching sweats*
Headaches*
Emotional lability*
Depression*
Dark urine*
Splenomegaly*
Dizziness*
Nausea and vomiting*
Cough*
Dyspnea*
Fever*
Chills*
Hepatosplenomegaly*
Jaundice*
Malaise*
Shortness of breath*
Bleeding tendencies,
bruising*
Thrombocytopenia*
Hemoglobinuria*
Hyperesthesia*
Pulmonary edema*
Encephalopathy*
Low to normal range leukocyte counts*
Possible elevated levels of dehydrogenase, bilirubin,
transaminase*
Anorexia*
Approximately 25%- 66% of Babesia patients are known to be co-infected with Lyme disease. These symptoms may continue for long periods of time, decrease, then return. A low Babesiosis titer (IgG) often indicates a chronic infection.
An acute or current infection may show a higher reading on the IgM test initially. There are over 100 species of Babesia in the United States but only ONE or TWO species are currently checked by commercial labs.

Hi Marz,

I had Babesia without major drenching night sweats people talk about. I did sweat during the day for no reason at all and did have some night sweats but no where near drenching.

I did have major anxiety from Babesia. Treatment really helped, but my LLMD also told me to take a herb called Rhodiola and the herb does help.

good luck.

PS:

I tested postitve through IGeneX Fish, but my son did not. He was also treated for Babesia and had no major night sweats, but horrible anxiety.

What is ART testing?

My understanding Dilly, is that Igenex is sensitive enough to pick up European strains. Maybe I'm wrong, but I definitely got sick over there.I wouldn't be surprised if you got it in Austria even if you don't test positve here.

I was there for two months in 1992 and figure I was bitten hiking in the country. Got sick while still over there.

I did have swollen lymph nodes under arms then, but assumed later it was from lyme. Maybe babs?

Fortunately after returning home and complaining a couple of times during 9 months of feeling lousy, my doctor finally humored me and gave me doxy twice and I got better.

Or maybe unfortunately, because it was too little too late.He still doesn't believe I really had it. And he doesn't believe it could have come back now.

I now have an LLMD.

I didn't have the sweats until after I was diagnosed with the Babs and then actually started treatment, Once in treatment- alot came out! Major symptoms! ANd if I stopped the treatment too early- awful sweats, chills, anemia, air hunger, chest pain, etc.

thanks, Marz.

for me, the only reason if or not European matters is that I understand European strains are more likely to cause worse neurological symptoms (which fits). and a long time ago, it seemed relevant to see if i could pull a positive out of the hat.

in my case the odds are far greater that a home-grown tick bit me. i was living on a farm surrounded on 3 sides by a many miles deep state park. deer grazed in my front yard. racoons knocked on the back window- literally. my cats brought deer ticks in EVERY day. Lordy, my ignorance then.

But back to the original question. where you feelign better befoe you hit that brick wall??

you need the fry test...I had very severe babs and no sweats....so much for the sweats..I asked a dr about why that may be and he said it is because your body does not see the babs..so it is not fighting the infection..I know that my body is not fighting this infection..

I have also tested negative twice. I rarely sweat. I had/ have SEVERE anxiety, fear and feelings of being overwhelmed. I like it quiet and not too many people around.

Once I started zith & Mepron (2x a day), the emotions & neuro symptoms peaked. When I stopped the IV Roccephin for Lyme, these symptoms became IMPOSSIBLE. Tears every day.

I backed off the Mepron and am only taking it once a day. I do feel better now. I just needed a break from the freakshow.

I will discuss a strategy with my LLMD.

Yes, I was better until my ceftin dose was doubled about a month ago. I was more off balance after it was doubled but headache was much better and I didn't have this awful level of anxiety.

Then a week ago I was switched to doxy and now I have the pressure headache back and neck is tighter, lower back and knees ache all the time, but the worst is the uneasiness I feel. Also feel like lead walking upstairs.

Last summer while on doxy I felt so much better and expected that to happen again.

I'll look into the fry test and ART.

Zith is next after doxy and I'm dreading that since I felt really lousy on that last summer!

I tested positive to babs but did not have the sweats-just fever & chills.

But I did get hot flash's & sweats while in treatment for the babs. This was only temporary & did eventually go away.

There are over 10 species of Babs. Each evokes somehow different symptoms.

I don't think at this time we can generalize symptoms or say that night sweats are characteristic for all Babs. We don't know enough.

When I started the Noni last month ('cause it was supposed to deal with the Babesia), I started getting what I call "rolling temperature waves" where every hour or two my temperature moves slowly up or down. Mainly it moves between the low 97's and the high 99's and then back again.

I finally stopped the Noni just to see if it would go away and it is still going on. Pretty much all the time, day and night. Get's pretty annoying to have to wake up to put down or pull up the covers every hour or so.

Sure hope it gets better soon!

I tested positive for babesia WA-1 and never broke a sweat in my life!

However, I was perpetually chilled.

Don't rely on sweats too much -- like lyme testing, having them points to babesia, but NOT having them doesn't mean you don't have it.

Good luck.
