I was told by my lyme doc today that I have this. I have late-stage lyme and recently developed small VERY itchy scabs all over my shoulders, back and neck. Went to dermo first and he told me I had "acne". I am 49 yr old woman who has never had acne. When I asked dermo why acne would ITCH so bad, he kept INSISTING that I must be "sweating" and not knowing it. Which I have not, by the way. So I went to my lyme doc today and he took one look at it and told me I have ACA. Late stage lyme patients can develop this. Anyone heard of this or ever have it????? I am a little freaked out.

I have a friend that has it. If I had it, I might consider trying topical application of some of the essential oils that BioPure carries. Of course, aggressive Lyme treatment otherwise is also important.

One of our most famous posters has it. I'm not sure if that is privileged info or not.

There is a lot of information which Melanie Reber gathered for our friend. I'll go look for it for you.

Here ya go!!

I've heard of it. I think it's more common with the European Lyme.

I thought it was more common on the extremities and I thought it didn't itch. I've had a rash on my hand for about 5 or 6 months that I thought looked like some of the pictures of it. I keep forgetting to ask LLMD about it. I've tried everything to get rid of it and nothing has worked. I thought that I read somewhere that ACA didn't itch. Mine is horribly itchy so I figured it couldn't be that. I guess I'll have to look it up again. [Roll Eyes]

Sorry you're having to deal with this. [group hug]

I'm still looking for any info on itching.

In the time it took me to reply, I see you've gotten some really good info. I thank you Scott & TuTu for the links, also. [Smile]

That doesn't sound at all like ACA. And I never heard of an itching ACA.

On the other side, nothing is impossible in the world of Lyme.

I would have them do a biopsy so you know for sure WHAT it is. Your description sounds like what I get periodically, and it is "Lichen Simplex Chronicus". Very, very itchy which turns into a thin scab-like texture.

I used to have to use a prescription steroid cream to get it to go away, but since using homeopathic remedies for Lyme, this last patch went away ALL BY ITSELF. That has not happened for at least 12 years.

Cordor, what treatment did your doc recommend? Are you just supposed to "live with it"?

He wants me to start taking Minocycline for it. I have not been able to tolerate antibiotics for over a year now, so lyme has pretty much gone "untreated" except for Hyperbaric treatments (but stopped those 6 months ago.)
I am a little nervous about the mino because I have had such stranhge allergic reactions to stuff in the past.

Interesting that everyone says acrodermatitis does not ITCH. Because this itches like crazy.

I am very confident in my lyme doc and he seemed pretty sure that this is what I have.

ANYBODY, know ANYBODY who has had this and it itches??????????????????
