Michael J. Fox pushes researchers, investors to speed therapies
By Associated Press.
Monday, May 7, 2007 - Boston Herald

Fox said grants from the National Institute of Health have created a system that mainly encourages academic scientists to publish papers that yield academically interesting answers. But the system fails to translate the discoveries into new treatments and cures.

Nor do pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies have an appetite for high-risk studies critical in determining whether creative ideas could yield therapies for the 20,000 human diseases that have no cure, Fox said. They are more interested in repackaging old ideas and compounds in an effort to continue reaping vast returns.

How many of the thousands of Lyme studies are about the effectiveness of various treatments?
Only a few.
And 20,000 incurable diseases.

I was hoping Michael J. Fox would get tested at IgeneX. I've wondered many times...

I have always wondered if lyme had a link to Parkinsons, as
uncontrollable hand and head tremors were some of my
most notable lyme symptoms.

These tremors are mostly gone after 9 months of antibiotic (and lots of supplement) treatment.

Definitely a connection. My father died from "Parkinson's" before I found out we all had LYME.

Amazing.

The movie was Doc Hollywood and it was filmed mostly in Florida and some in LA and Virginia.
He has had Parkinsons since 1991 the same year the movie was made. Parkinsons doesn't come out in one year. I think what you were referring too was that four cast members and back stage crew have Parkinsons now. They all worked on a tv show done in Canada in the mid to late 70's with Michael J Fox.

Exactly the point that some want for lyme disease and co-infections....the same old same old that isn't the cure for many....
and discredit anyone posting such a thing as using rife, cleaning up your enviromental toxins,
supplements, colonics, muscle testing, etc, or any other form of treatments besides abx.

Wonder who is reaping the rewards? Oh, yeah it's Bryan a lyme disease suffer himself, who's trying to help thousands of people with alternative treatment when the abx weren't helping them. And to think he wants to earn a living while trying to help others? Oh my!!

Sounds like Fox understands the NIH and system now. The system isn't working and only more suffering and dying is happening daily.
New ideas?????? Too much work, we'll just reformulate this medication and therapy and continue to reap our rewards.

Grrrrr.....

That's what I "knew" to be true also.
