I am resting in bed after these procedures. The GI doctor said everything was normal, yay! I have to wait a few days for the biopsy results, though.
I am having really bad stomach pain; I am wondering if anyone else had this? It is like sharp pains, nausea, and heartburn kind of all rolled up together. I had a chocolate milkshake and that made it soooo much worse.
As everyone said, the procedures were a breeze. The only issues I had afterward besides this stomach pain were cuts and scrapes on my lips, sore throat, pain under my tongue, and sore back and neck muscles.
They said I bit a lot and very hard during the procedure, so evidently I really rammed that white round thing they put into my mouth into the soft tissue under my tongue; that area is really sore.
My lips hurt too; there are some spots that are raw, cut and bleeding.
But it was a very easy procedure and very fast. I was in and out of the hospital in about 4 hours or less.
Back to sleep! I took a Vicodin for the pain and am snoozing. Glad it's done with!

Glad you made it through OK!! Those bruises in the mouth don't sound like fun though!!
Could be the pain is from the upper GI stuff they gave you.
Milkshake?? Yeast! ugh!!
Take care and rest!! Drink fluids too!

Hi Tracy,
I'm glad the procedure is over. My husband had a lot of abdominal pain after a colonoscopy. You might want to rinse your mouth with salt water frequently to promote healing.

Glad everything is normal. Normal is not something those of us get to be in any respect very often
Sorry you have so much pain. I hope your lips heal quickly.. it sounds really unpleasant.

I'm glad it went okay. Are you having the biopsies sent to any labs to check for evidence of Lyme and co-infections? Just a thought, since you said they took biopsies. They always take extra and store it, so you can easily call your doctor and get a sample in case you want to pursue it. I did this, and it was interesting because I was negative for co-infections by blood, but my GI tissue was highly positive for Bartonella and Babesia. I used MDL, Clongen and I also sent for PCR's at IGenex. All positive! Unbelievable!

Thanks everyone! Chapstick is working wonders, my lips are feeling better, stomach is getting better too. The Vicodin really helped with the muscle pains.
No, I didnt' pursue any Lyme tissue testing. The biopsies are for Celiac and I'm not sure what else.
No energy to try and coordinate Lyme doc and GI doc and all that....plus I already recently tested positive for Lyme, Erlichiosis, and Bartonella.

I had a endoscopy when I thought I still had Lyme. I had a year and half of oral meds and still had stomach pain, etc. The tissue sample was sent to MDL and it came up positive for Lyme and Mycoplasma. WIth that piece of info I was finally able to get my insurance to pay for 28 days of IV. I still struggle with Lyme though. But I do believe if you can get a good tissue sample it helps with diagnosis.
