Does anyone have opinions on these two drugs combined for Lyme / Babesia treatment? My LLMD is taking me off Doxy due to reactions which he suspects may be allergic in nature.

Good / bad opinions? I'm going to take 500 mg Zithro 1 x per day. I'm not sure on the dose for Plaquenil.

He did mention vision issues over time that must be checked. I took Ketek once years ago for a throat infection and couldn't tolerate it. My eyesignt became totally blurry and I couldn't read anything!

I hope this combination is better for me.

That may not be enough for babesia....I would recommend adding Mepron into that mix. You want to knock out the babesia, and Plaquenil isn't really widely used as a stand-alone. You could also look into Artemisiae.

Maybe in addition you could add some Amoxicillin or Bicillin shots so that Zithro isn't your "only" defense against the Lyme.

If you are worried about the safety of those together, just keep in mind.....I am currently on Mepron, Plaq, Zith, and Amox, and Artemisinin! And my LLMD is reputable.

Good luck!

PS----if you are not able/willing to be on all those drugs at once, I would recommend Mepron (which is always combined with Zith or Biaxin) over the Plaquenil. Hopefully others will give their input.

I spoke to my LLMD today and he seemed to think the three day use of Malarone and Zithro is sufficient for Babesia and he'll retreat next month.

I've only been there once, but no mention of Mepron at all. Perhaps he's not trying to kill me in month one. [Smile]

I do want to hit this with what I can because I'm so sick of being sick.

How can someone call their LLMD and start making suggestions when I'm a patient and they are my doctor? I've wondered this from being on this forum as others seem to be able to do that.

Can anyone provide feedback on how they felt takign these two drugs (i.e., symptoms, quality of life, etc.)? That's what I'm seeking as well. Thank you.
