Hello, if you have read my story you have probably noticed me complaining everyday about my persistent cough. Also, when I cough I have pain on my left mid side. I has kind of spread to my mid abdomen. Weird?
I just read a post on here about mycoplasma infections. I looked it up and I seem to have the symptoms.
Cough headache tiredness bronchitis(maybe my cough sounds like it) sore throat(some comes and goes) But, I don't think I have had a fever.
Does this have anything to do with lyme?
Opinions please? Maybe you could read more on my other post "Christi's Story"...
Thanks so much. Everyone on here has been very helpful in answering my questions. Thanks so much!

Wow! So far no one has had an opinion on this.
Has anyone on here experienced this?

My daughter started out with that. Most people have mycoplasma infections with Lyme. It caused over all pain after a while, lots of breathing difficulties.
It's hard to say what was caused by what. That was the only organism she was tested for at that phase of her illness. I'm sure she was infected with bart and others at that time, as well.
She started with two rounds of doxy, but it wasn't long enough. Check out Garth Nicholson's website at www.immed.org.Posts: 2903 | From AZ | Registered: Feb 2006

Mycoplasma was one of the co-infections I had with lyme. The sysmptoms are similar to my early pre/or not documented time before lyme or other TBI.
An air purifier purchased in 1996 resolved "lung" issues. Then I had lyme(2000), Rocky Mountain, bart and myco(2003). Eventually my llmd had me eliminate wheat completely from my diet, lingering pain and fatigue went... also what I always called "seasonal" allergies. The "standard" anti body test(1998) of grasses, molds, dust and animals showed nothing more than high normal.
However I noticed that several months into no wheat(last summer) I had no more sniffles, but that when I do eat wheat, the next day my nose runs. A few Oreos on the ride back from Florida did me in for several days!!!
I not suggesting that you have a wheat issue but rather some kind of allergy that has been stirred up by TBI. These are all stressers of the immune system and when that goes down more "things" show up.
Clearly there was something in the air that the air cleaner helped me, so several things might be going on with you too.

Hi,
I have major issues with breathing. I got lyme about 19 years ago and started to treat about 3.5 years ago.
I have had a horrid cough off and on the past 2 months from the flu, I got it twice, and it affected my breathing. Also the herxing mixed in. I just had all breathing checked out and everything was normal.
I am getting a horrid cough from herxing lately. I am treating lyme again, treated babesia as well.
I have not been checked for mycoplasma's, I thought that if one took care of lyme and babesia, the immune would go up and the
immune would kill the mycoplasma, but I have heard that this may not be the case.
Get checked for mycoplasma, and treat lyme and other coinfections if you have them I woudl suggest.
I am tired, cough, but not all the time, and bronchitis like issues, but not headache.
If I did not treat, I would be DEAD because of my breathing, that is how bad it got with me.
ALso, candida can cause some breathing problems when on antibiotics if you let the candida get out of hand,
hope this helps,
Trish

Good advice from all. Those symtpoms could also be mono, which is the Epstein-Barr virus. Get checked for that as well as mycoplasma pneumoniae and chlamydia pneumoniae. Azithromycin is a good drug with both of those two. Also, consider getting checked for babesia as well. Babesia [at least what is known about babs] affects the red blood cells and therefore breathing. Contrary to popular believe, IVIg's and plasmaphoresis does not always do the trick. From what I have learned, IVIg's and/or plasmaphoresis should be combined with antibiotics.
Good luck. Mike

One thing that may help the "bronchitis" symptoms is the salt pipe, a ceramic tube with salt crystals in it.
When you inhale through it, the air picks up salt ions that enter your lungs and can kill bacteria.
There are places in Europe where people go down into old salt mines for several hours to breathe the air and treat lung problems.
You can order this from overseas (Cisca Salt Pipe), and eBay has it also, two kinds.
