I've been reading how diet affects us with lyme.
I am pretty much a vegetarian, fruits and veggies
pastas, nuts. I've always thought that if it's
not all processed it's better for you. But it
sounds as though for lyme this isn't the case...
only partly. Is there a "lyme diet" I can try?

Many of us follow the anti-yeast/candida diet, which is basically very little or no carbs (no pasta or other wheat products) sugar, processed foods, etc. And some of us do not do well with dairy products.
Protein and veggies are best, and fruit is allowed if yeast is not a big problem.
Nuts seem to be fine for those that can digest them. I can digest sunflower and pumpkin seeds if I soak them overnite and lightly roast them.
This is difficult if you are a vegetarian. I try to minimize the amount of meat I eat though I cannot get away from it altogether. What seems to help me to reduce intake are whey protein drinks, and lately I have added back more 'good' fats, like coconut milk (with a lipid enzyme). Another staple is avocados.
Also, I have found that placing a small amount of olive oil on a baked potato will help slow down the carb/sugar rush. And somehow, I can eat corn tortillas if they are the 'healthy' kind. Recently I had a vegetarian taco at a restaurant that had squash, potatos and spinach, cooked in oil inside a corn tortilla with cabbage, that seemed to be okay.
You will have to experiment to some degree to see what works best for you. But those are general guidelines.
Best wishes,
Claire

You need to read about "essential fatty acids." There is alot available on the web. The Weston Price Foundation has information, and Mary Enig has authored articles.
I made some major changes in our diet after doing some reading.
