I'm between a rock and a hard place. I have on treatment on and off for years. I have had ocd for years(I'm on anafranil for 2 years) and have been feeling myself for nearly that long time. I just re-started treatment (mninocycline). I started at 200 mg per day and was so dizzy I got off. Went to my doc who told me to do 100 mg of mino. I had to up the anafranil slightly due to my feeling not myself again, but co-incidentally it's the same time as some family stressors, my swollen glands, positive testing for lyme and bartonella and my monthly cycle. My doc knows I'm relapsing with the lyme. Have been craving sweets, big time. Would you continue with the mino knowing there's alot of outside things going on? I know it's adding to my feelings of depersonalization that I used to get often and haven't gotten in nearly 2 years.

What would you do?

Hi lyme in putnam,

Since you are positive for lyme, herxing may create some difficult moments no matter which antibiotic you take. Yet in my opinion it is worth it to treat and try to cope with those moments as you can. I have not taken mino, but will start it soon, and have been taking amoxy for some time.

Sounds like support, from family and friends, will be essential to getting you through those tough moments while in treatment.

How about speaking with your doctor about trying another antibiotic? Or, starting at a lower dose of mino and slowly increasing? I am not a doctor, so cannot advise exactly, but that is what I would do.
