Ok ladies, here's one for ya. I don't know if it's lyme or not.

i have developed stabbing pains in my breast. No, not chest, in the actual breast itself.

Yes, I wear an underwire for good support anddo no caffeine. These only started about a couple of weeks ago.

They're like stabbing short shooting pains. Takes you're breath away.

lyme or what??

I had terrible breast pain. Not chest, but breast. Icy cold pain is how I would describe it. I have always had the shooting, jabbing pains in different areas, icluding the breast from time to time, but I also went through a period of this horrible cold pain mainly in the area of the nipples, and in both breasts.

I have breast pain, too. I would describe it as aches like when you're pregnant.

The other odd things is, they had shrunk, but when I went gluten-free, they grew some, and now that I'm being treated for Lyme they grew some more. And, no, I haven't gained weight. I wish I knew what was causing this, I'd make a fortune!! Hubby is joking that it's my second puberty. [Big Grin]

Well, mine hurt sometimes, but I think it's related to swelling of my lymph nodes. The one seems lumpy to me and I get armpit pain now and again, so I'm chalking it up to swollen, yuck-filled nodes.

I have had left breast pain that comes & goes now for the 20 yeasr I have had lyme.

It did get much worse durning IV but did improve somewhat on orals afterwards.

Tender to the touch & moist heat does help. Not so much stabbing pains but a constant ache.

Have you had a mamogram?

Best to be on the safe side.

take care

I had the stabbing pain, and it wasn't due to lyme.

The pain started under the arm pit and radiated down. Really bad pain. It would happen in a public place sometimes. No fun.

My PCP told me to take 400IU of vitamin E every day.

No more pain. It comes back only if I forget for a while to take the E.

Try that, if everything else is clear for that problem.

Hi Randibear, Yes I went through a month or two of this. It would start at night , I'd wake up with a stabbing burning sensation going from my armpit to my breast. It would last like a minute then slowly go away. Just to do it again every half hour or so.

I haven't had it since I started abx.

Dear Randi,

I have breast pain that comes and goes...

It appears to be somewhat related to my periods.

When I go a short time between cycles (ie about 20 days)

My breasts hurt (really hurt) the whole 20 days.

For some reason when I have a normal cycle (ie 25-30 days)

I don't have nearly as much discomfort or pain.

I know that breast pain is a lyme symptom....

This one comes and goes for me.....

When it comes....ouch!!!

I wish mine were growing....they are shrinking!!!

Probably due to the weight loss I have experienced and continue to experience.

Hope you get some relief soon.

Hugs,

Geneal

Yes...I have pain, especially in my left breast, most everyday.. I used to think that I was getting ready to have a heart attack or something, but am chalking it up to lymph nodes..

Though my menstrual cycle is mostly "Kaput", there are times every now and then that I get that "don't touch me there" pain, like when I was pregnant..

So, I would definitely say that what you are experiencing is normal...well not normal..but common and due to the Lyme...

Randibear, sounds like a lot of different descriptions have been made. Yours however closely resembles what I feel myself. A sharp pain every now and then. For me the pain is in the breast but more towards the middle of my chest not in the arm pit area as others have noted. I've noticed these pains since I started treatment for lyme about two years ago. They aren't constant for me. They seem to go away for awhile but always return.

I don't think I've actually ever mentioned them to my LLMD only because I tend to forget the symptoms that don't happen all the time. I'll have to try to remember to mention it to him. I wasn't really sure if it was a lyme thing or not.

I wonder why it is only my left breast, armpit and it radiates to my last two fingers, it is so painful. But why only on the left side?

That is sooo odd. Just in the past week, i have had aweful stabbing pain in my lower left breast. I am only 20, and I have never had this before and i have not dealt with it (although i have a doctors appointment in a few days... wait tomorrow... anyhoo I am going to talk to her tomorrow about it and other things).
It has been so bad it wakes me up in the middle of the night and I simply can not get back to sleep due to the burning pain.

It seems like many people are getting this in the left... i wonder why.

I will talk to my LLMD tomorrow and see if this does infact correlate with Lyme.

I'm probably sleeping...

I had on off breast pain on right side for years. Would worsen around period and also sometimes after I ate a meal.

It finally resolved with bart tx. Bart is known to cause lymph pain.

Something to consider. BTW my bart tests are always negative but treating it has caused major herxes followed by major improvement.

Best wishes to all

Wow, I'm having the same stabbing sort of burning pain in my left breast. Both breasts have been much more tender for about a month now, but this morning I woke up and am having the stabbing pain in the left breast...more towards the middle of the chest rather than the armpit side. The whole breast really hurts to the touch as well.

I just had a mammogram last month and all was well with that. Don't know about my cycle though since I had a hysterectomy a few years ago. [Frown]

Hi randibear,

I had the worst breast pain while taking doxy/mino, it hurt bad. I think it was some kind of herx and was also related to lymph node swelling for me.

It got better when I switched to Zithromax, but I still get it once in a while, just not as bad. It is mostly with right breast and in armpit area also.

Interesting about the Vitamin E though, I do take that now.

I have had terrible breast pain (tender lumps), and yes the left is worse.

I'm guessing it is because the lymph system has 2 ducts in the neck/thoracic area.

The right duct only has to serve the upper right chest area.

The left duct has to do the whole rest of the body.

I'm guessing we have some overworked/congested left lymph ducts.

So what is the solution? I can't walk to get the lymph moving because my joints are so bad.

I sat and moved/flapped my arms for 15 minutes today to attempt to pump my lymph system and get it moving and tissue oxygenated. Any other ideas?

Isn't it fun to be female?

Well, my advise to everyone is to stop wearing underwire bras! This is coming from someone who has learned the hard way! The pain in your breast is a sign that something is wrong. Burn the bra!

I also have the stabbing breast pain, mainly in my right breast.

Susan2Health, you mentioned getting the lymph draining...How about rebounding on a mini-trampoline? It's supposed to be excellent for that.

I have one, but unfortunately I get dizzy very easily and jumping around on the thing isn't really all that much fun!

But if you can handle it, they say just rebounding for a couple minutes is helpful.

i wish someone could tell me why lyme and co infections seems to have a trend of migrating to the left side more than the right?

this seems to be the case VERY often.....
i know with me the left side of my body is MUCH more heavily infected that my right. [shake]

dj--yes definitely more joint problems on left.

In re rebounder: I hope to some day. Joints too instable and me too dizzy now.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Yes, most of my joint pain and stiffness (especially my neck) is worse on my left side.

I do have a rebounder and this thread reminds me that I need to make a real effort to at least spend a couple of minutes on it several times a day! I am definitely having a problem with lymph drainage.

I must be a freak of Lyme nature!!

My pain is worse on my right side (right breast and joints on the right side).

I rode horses competitively growing up and I'm right handed, so maybe I just put more emphasis on the right side of my body riding, and now the right side is just more worn out??

One of the reasons I disregarded Lyme for so long is because I figured my back and knee pain was just from years of riding catching up with me.

My breasts have grown substantially.
36C at marriage and after 2 kids.

Now 36DDD. (36E week before period)
Too Big to burn the bra. Most comfortable wearing takini top.

Skin rashes on bottom side of breast is common for me.

green and brwon discharge from nipple for past 2 years.

Normal mammogram - normal sonagram of breast

Extreme pain of breast tissue before period.

One doctor thinks I have active Lyme in all Mammary glands. Before Lyme diagnosis I was considering a reduction because they are so heavy.

well, i now have this too.

ugh, it started last week, and has now increased.

I also have been flaring more in the last week, but i havent had this symptom in years.

Its both sides on the side of the breast closest to the underarm area. Hurts to touch.

my period is not due for two weeks, could this be hormonal, or is it the lyme?

I could not wear an underwire bra or any bras at all during the time the breast pain was bad for me.

I can say that now I can, it gets better, hang in there.

One doctor thinks I have active Lyme in all Mammary glands. Before Lyme diagnosis I was considering a reduction because they are so heavy.

artist, please consider a needle biopsy of your nipple(s) because of your discharge.

my late sister was 32 when she found a lump in her breast; drs. said not to worry, she'd had a hysterectomy 4-5 months earlier before our mom died that july.

next came blood from the nipples; this time they got her in immediately for a mammogram which showed something.

so 1st wk in dec. 90, she had a biopsy of her breast done; they found 2 different types of cancer! from her lump and nipples.

she had her 1 breast removed; went thru chemo and radiation; declared free of cancer.

6.5 years later 7-22-97, rediagnosed with breast cancer in liver. again went thru chemo/radiation but no good.

she died at age 41, on 8-25-99 leaving a 14 yr. old son, and 11 yr. old daughter who'd seen their mom go thru 9 years of hell with her cancer.

so please check this out!

also, i've had breast reduction of 5.5 lbs!! so if you want info, i'd be happy to discuss by private message. [Wink]

I myself have had shooting pains as well, mostly in my right side. Most of my other pain likes to stay on my right as well. Anyway, I have had mammograms and ultrasounds and they have always come back normal. The final diagnosis is fibrocystic breasts which is "normal" I guess in the medical community. I was told to avoid caffeine, chocolate and underwire bras. Anything with the name "cyst" in it just doesn't seem "normal" to me.

When I did high dose IV Vitamin C therapy (50,000mg) I would get intense, diffuse bilateral breast pains that could last hours. Otherwise, no breast pains.

Stopped doing the vitamin C IV's..

I am glad I found this site! I woke up this morning with a heavy left breast and pain shooting through my breast and chest. I am waiting for my bloodwork to come back - but symptoms are ONLY awful fatigue and achy body. I've been sick for two weeks. I was put on antibiotics 5 days ago, but not an ounce of relief. Feel awful. My preliminary blood came back negative so I went to an infectious disease Dr. for more bloodwork and broader panel. Any advice?

I am glad I found this, too.

I just started zith and had profound fatigue yesterday.

Today, I woke up and had a giant ache on the left side of my chest. I won't say it's breast pain, because when I'm low on vit E, it feels sharp and travels down to the nipple.

This is radiating to my back and up my neck.
I'm having a hard time getting a breath.

I would think I'm having a heart attack.

What showed up on tests were band 41, and I have brain and heart involvement.

Worried.
