Good morning all.

My daughter had a small bout with the stomach flue a couple of days ago.

Late Tuesday night, it was my turn.

I have been in the middle of my 30 day babs herx when it hit.

Boy did it hit me.

I threw up constantly from midnight to 6:30am yesterday along with diarrhea.

Sweated so bad.....headache from hell, fever, stuffy nose, etc.

I was to see my LLMD yesterday but obviously had to cancel visit.

There was no way I could make the 3.5 hour trip by myself.

I noticed yesterday that I had joint pains, muscle pains, etc. like I do with a Lyme flare up.

Sinus pressure, sinus problems, etc. too.

I suppose as I have been on valcyte for CMV this really left me open to this virus.

The closest I can recall to being this sick was when I had food poisoning a few years back.

I am currently off all meds. I am going to try to start back on supplements today.

The fatigue......it is hard to type this.

Does anybody think this could be just a "small" setback or just related to the stomach flu?

Do I just monitor symptoms and see if they improve?

BTW, I am no longer throwing up (Thank Goodness), but continue with diarrhea.

The brain fog, fatigue, sweats, headache, body and joint pain are so reminiscent of how I felt

Before being diagnosed and beginning treatment for Lyme.

Any suggestions are most welcomed.

Hugs,

Geneal

Hey Geneal*)!!

I would assume STOMACH FLU until a week has passed because stomach flu- food poisoning- can kill you- your poor body!!! and severe gastroenteritis- wow- having spent years of my life in India I can call myself a Food Poisoning Expert or a Gastroenteritis Expert!*)!*)! It takes a while to get back from that fatigue- at least a few days!!!

Rest up, Geneal*)!!!! Sleep, watch TV, as much as you can with little ones)*!)!

Very much best wishes,

My daughter had some type of virs or something almost 2 weeks ago. She was throwing up and then developed cold sx. Last week I started to develop the cold sx and then after a couple days into it my lyme symptoms started to return. I didn't realize how much better I was feeling and forgot how bad I used to feel.

I'm getting bad palps, headache, dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pains and some others.

Anyway....I went to my llmd yesterday for a regular visit and told him, he said it is very common to have a relapse or flare up when you get a virus or illness since it pulls down the immune system and gives the lyme a stronger foothold. This may be whats happening to us.

It is horrible to have made progress only to backslide again.

Hang in there..............Rich

Thanks so much for the replies and advice.

It is one of the few times in life that I truly wanted to be put out of my misery!

I shudder to think of what my little girl will bring home when she starts kindergarten this year.

I hope to be off of the valcyte then.

Hugs,

Geneal

I had food poisoning a few weeks ago, and boy let me tell you that was NO fun. And yes, it does affect your Lyme.

The effects from this poisoning, pains in the gut, diarrhea, etc., lasted for days; and my Lyme symptoms came back quite strong for a week or more.

I am doing great right now. Feel like about 95% of normal today.

Try Buhner's protocol IF you are Flu susceptable. I do quite well now on that, and my cold sores have disappeared. I get sick very seldom.

THe herbs build up your immune system, not only for Lyme, but for flu's, colds, etc., etc.. I haven't even taken my inhaler for asthma in over a year. I don't even carry it with me anymore.

Of course the Salt pipe helps tremendously with that too.

Happy Healing,
Jim.

When I caught a cold a few weeks ago, my symptoms flared badly. My family found the cold a mere inconvenience, but it sent me to bed for at least a week.

I'd talk to your LLMD about it. It's good to keep them updated on everything.

I've read here that Dr. J considers a child healthy when they are two months without symptoms and go though a cold/flu without a Lyme flare up.

Any stress, including colds/flus, can lead to a flare up of symptoms.

I got a stomach virus in March and my lyme disease quickly deteriorated in the two months after. This was before I got diagnosed but prior to this I had many lyme symptoms. After I got sick I got even more symptoms and my previous symptoms were ten times as bad.

Man....I must be such a whimp.

I can't imagine suffering like that with the stomach flu for weeks!

My husband better have the key to the gun cabinet.

I am thankfully feeling a little better.

Hopefully can resume antibiotics tomorrow.

Every time I think I know this disease....it has a few more tricks up it's sleeve.

Thanks again for all of the support and advice.

Hugs,

Geneal

This is a huge problem for me. It seems like someone around me always has some kind of cold, flu or some type of bug. They don't get that that sick so they don't think anything of it to come around me.

I then catch it and get a major lyme flare and am sick for weeks. This has been going on for over 21 years and I still can't get my family to understand it!!! [bonk]

For many, many years, I would get sick with a flu bug in November and I would be sick for the most part until May; EVERY year. Got after a while that I just wish I could die. But the summers made up for it. It sure felt good to feel good.

That is why I like herbs so well. They make me feel good, while I am fighting Lyme.
