Was wondering if anyone could tell me why root canals are not good for people with lyme. I am facing another one next week. It's probably either root canal, or extraction at this point. Any input would be great.

I did do a search Gigi, and only found 3 postings on root canals. They really did not explain why they are so bad. Please tell me if you have any info. Thanks.

Cordor, root canals are bad because the tooth is really a dead tooth with always a lingering infection in it. The tooth releases 24/7 a substance called mercaptans and/or thioethers, which is the same substance a dead body produces and the reason why we embalm bodies. This substance drips into the body as long as the root canal is there.
"A very astute microbiologist and MD, Druckrey, from University of Heidelberg, who is doing some of the finest work, found these dental toxins to be the world's most perfect carcinogen. Creating an appearance and function of a malignant cell until the carcinogenic dose was reached. How long does it take??? Who knows.
Make your own decision. Nobody wants to lose their tooth. Nobody wants to hear it, even the people who have the root canals.
Read: George Meinig "Root Canal Coverup".
I searched under "GiGi root canal", and got a whole page of root canal and dental. Some nice, some not so nice. I know this is not and I am not popular. But that is not important. Hope you make the right decision - that's what counts.
Take care.

Gigi i just want to say that i appreciate your posts. It was reading them that made me decide i wanted to see a holistic dentist and get my amalgams removed and root canal. I have my first appt tommorwo to see what the future holds and really how much this is all going to cost. I think that once youve been sick for so long you want to do everything possible to get rid of things that can be harming the body and causing a struggle to get well. Anyways, thanks for all your posts. You are really informative. Im keeping my fingers crossed on this but eiether way i want this mercury out of my mouth.

Are you saying GiGi that it's better to have a tooth pulled than have a root canal?
Or can a holistic dentist do a root canal safely?
I've been told I have an abcess, although my dentist missed it. My TMD dentis spotted it on an x-ray.
I've been putting off doing anything about it because I don't know what to do.

Based on my own experience and the experience of the Lyme patients, cancer patiens, ALS patients -- all chronic disease patients I have met in 10 years, yes, I would not recommend anyone get a root canal to save a tooth.
Do read the book I suggested. And don't just read one page and put it aside -- that's what I did -- because like so many, it feels comfortable while in denial, but eventually the pain and discomfort will hit home. I regret that even though I was fully aware of the problems from root canals, I lived with denial for so long.
I have for reference the text of a lecture by a science researcher, who happens to also testify to Congress on mercury and autism, on root canals in relation to Lyme, cancer, etc. The text is many pages long, he spoke for several hours. He has tested hundreds of root canals taken from many sick people - in his words: "I have never seen a healthy root canal" - and "but if you have a root canal, you will have cavitations, because they cause them."
If you have existing root canals you can use the TOPAS test to make a more scientific diagnosis of the toxicity level of the tooth. It's done in the dentist chair, costs minimal. With that, the researcher told, they "have never found a root canal that is not toxic".
Please ask your holistic dentist.
Best wishes and take care.

Hi Cor! Sorry about your tooth.
This is a sensitive subject for Doc. He is of a different opinion than Gigi & others and has gotten into some heated disagreements over it.
I did a search on "Dave root canal"
I didn't read them all, but I'm sure you can get his opinion there.
I'm pretty sure this is why he's now "stymied" .
I tried to link the search results for you, but I couldn't, sorry.
I hope the info helps.
Chin up, ChocDoc! Don't go back to that ugly place! You have lots of people who love you here!
