Hi - first, I know the test results are shaky, but I wanted to know why the test is negative but the 41 band is "reactive". I read this is the test band and all other bands must be below it ---is this true?

If you got tested, you must have Lyme symptoms... Tests are extremely unreliable.

Many here have only had band #41 come up positive (myself included). Try a search for band 41 in medical- look for little link at top of page.
Lots of good info in the newbie links as well-

Sue

Actually, I had no symptoms. I live in an area where Lyme is prevelant and I get tested yearly. This is the first time I asked to see the labwork though.

What lab did the test? If it wasn't IGeneX, then you probably don't have a test sensitive enough to pick up other bands. Many labs also leave out several Lyme specific bands.

Band 41 is not specific for Lyme. I would still be concerned if it wasn't the right lab ... I would also always ask for your lab results.

The newbie help links has information about interpreting the Western Blot results.
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=029917
(Scroll down to Western Blot info.)

Band 41 shows up positive for bacteria that has a flagella, or tail.

The overall result is negative. Band 41 showed positive.

I'm not sure what you mean?? "Below it"?

Hmm...I think you have confused band 41 with 39. 39 is the most lyme specific one.
