I have contacted Dr. F's office and found out the cost of the initial visit is $500-$800. This includes some testing. Do I go forward with the Igenex tests or plan a trip to Dr. F's and let him do it????

So confused....

Personally, if it were me, I'd let him do the tests. The only reason to do it first is if you think it will change your mind about seeing him. It shouldn't since lyme is a clinical diagnosis and you need him for that.

I think if you can get the tests done before the visit, having the results may be helpful in making decisions about next steps rather than waiting yet another visit to get the same answers. I agree with Terry that it is a clinical diagnosis but the lab testing may be supportive and have some influence in the path that the doctor decides to take.

If it were me, I would want the test done right away. As long as you use Igenex or a similar lab, there is no reason to wait (unless you are newly infected, then the test will not be positive no matter what).

Then, when you see the doctor (which may take some time to get in to see him), you can bring that lab result already. You could even ask that doctor's office which lab and test they prefer to do (for Borrelia) and use that lab? Doc. may order other tests based on your visit, but at least you would have a bit of a head start....

What does your gut tell you to do?

Just my 2 cents

Robin
