I underwent abx treatment from feb 06 to feb 07. My doctor and I decided to take a break from treatment to see if my symptoms would stay away and if I continued to feel better. My fear is this. Over the last few weeks I have been very tired and my joints in my hands slightly ache. I also have POTS which I seem to have been left with even after treatment. This also makes me tired. I am almost totally overwhelmed with OH NO it is creeping back. How do you know if it's lyme? Would being retested be in order??? I read a blurb somewhere, I haven't been able to find it again, that said something about if your ebstein barr #'s were high it meant something??? Mine were 200 recently. Does anyone know about this or what this meant in relation to the Western Blot?

I would retest with IGeneX Western Blot, co-infection testing via Fry Clinical Labs and CD57 and see what those reveal.

Don't rely totally on a test. If you're still having symptoms, you probably need treatment.
One year of treatment is pretty short for chronic lyme. You may also have babesia, which I believe can cause POTS. Of course, it could also be caused by Lyme.

What if you stay on a low dose of doxycycline or monocycline for the rest of your life or until they find a definitive cure? Many people at www.roadback.org who are treating autoimmune conditions thought to be caused by mycoplasma (and many probably with lyme) plan on staying on low dose antibiotics forever.

Pots stands for Postural orthostatic tychardia syndrome
for more detailed info go to: dinet.org
It is believed that in some cases POTS is brought on by a viral infection, in my case lyme. It is a form of dysautonomia, in which the autonomic system does not work properly.
